Ever wondered what it’s like to step into a storybook? We spent a day exploring Bad Wimpfen—a pastel-hued, half-timbered town perched above the Neckar River—and the nearby hilltop ruins of Burg Hornberg, once home to the legendary “Iron Hand” knight, Götz von Berlichingen.

Highlights included: • Climbing the Blue Tower for sweeping valley views • Wandering imperial palace ruins and peaceful arcades • Discovering quirky castle nooks, a 500-year-old yew tree, and even a secret button • A relaxing courtyard lunch beneath a leafy canopy at the castle restaurant

Every corner felt like it belonged in a painting—from cobbled streets to castle walls wrapped in ivy. It’s part of Germany’s Burgenstraße (Castle Road), which winds past dozens of fortresses and palaces across southern Germany.

A joyful overnight in 𝐓𝐲𝐫𝐨𝐥, 𝐀𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐚—lakeside views in 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐮 𝐚𝐦 𝐀𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐞, alpine trails above the lake, and a full day of tradition in 𝐑𝐞𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐢𝐦 𝐀𝐥𝐩𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐭𝐚𝐥. Bells rang, flower-crowned cows paraded through the streets, and the whole village turned festive with food, music, and mountain charm.
