Drew Dr Robby tackling his tablet. Noah's nose is so handsome I can't stand how beautiful this motherfucker is sometimes. I love his emotionally vulnerable performance on the show. fic idea ive been toying with...

(feel free to write in my stead because I doubt ill get round to it...)

dennis and his childhood sweetheart boyfriend were both going to join the army together so they could escape broken bow, but it transpires that dennis has some medical issues that doesnt make him fit for duty, so when he persuades his parents to let him go off to college his bf goes into the army so they have some money

he plans on doing 5 years, learning a trade and then coming back home to dennis, who would be on his way to being a doctor by then and they could live together openly and happy and far away from the hell of nebraska

they spend 3 years writing to each other constantly, ringing when they can. the bf get to learn all about dennis's studies and friends and life, while dennis learns about his bf's new family, in particular a doctor called Jack who he gets very close with and starts to think maybe he'd train as a doctor too

everything is going as well as it can for two lonely broken people loving each other from overseas until one year before his bf is able to come home there is an attack...

his bf dies.

and since his bf's family didnt know about his secret love, dennis is left heartbroken penniless homeless and ruined

no-one at work knows

until abbot returns from war, missing a leg and missing a young man who died in his arms. Said young man who he took under his wing and loved. the one he shared stories of his late wife and robby with and in return got stories of a Dee who was from broken bow who was training to be a doctor and who was loved so fearlessly by his buddy.

eventutally abbot manages to connect the dots that Dee who he has heard so much about and learned to love through his buddy's eyes, is, in fact, one Dennis Whitaker MS4

him and dennis both mourning a young man they loved who was gone too soon slowly learning to love again

i'm overanalyzing again.

an underrated aspect of the housesitting situation is Trinity's response:

"I asked him to give you some fatherly advice, not the keys to his fucking house."

obviously she's upset that she's about to lose her huckleberry but that's an interesting way to phrase that. not only is she contrasting giving him the keys with fatherly advice, implying they're opposing ideas, but the way she phrases it; "giving you the keys to his house." not; "helping you move out," not; "giving you a (new place/job/chores.)"

she says it like it's a step beyond "fatherly," (which is already bordering on inappropriate.) the way she emphasizes it makes it sound crazy and sudden, which brings to mind another common reason someone might give you the keys to their house and have it seem crazy and sudden.

she was being hyperbolic to make her point, but she's an empathetic and intuitive person, and she identified a grain of truth even if she didn't realize. if she wasn't so caught up worrying about losing her Boy, she might have taken another second to really question why her boss gave the keys to his house to a 25 year old intern.

maybe not the type of evidence that, on its own, raises concern about the relationship between your roommate and your boss; but definitely the type where as soon as you get a real hint of something ~weird~ going on between them, you look back at it like "...wait a sec..."

I too thought about that. Trinity is so hyperaware and hyperattentive about any kind of inappropriate behaviour that she probably perceived something weird in that proposal too.

But... we also know that she really trust Robby, because (her own words) he's been the only one to see through Langdon's shit and actually did something about it. Not only did he believe her (although she was just a student) but he also took action.

So... I don't know. Maybe her instinct tells her it's something weird but at the same time she can't rationally believe Robby would behave in an appropriate way.

It's her father there, and her trust in him makes me cry.

yes all of this too! She's distracted by Whitaker moving out but also just wouldn't think of Robby like that. I like hucklerobby a lot but for me the best/most interesting version is controversial and problematic and not accepted by their coworkers for a while at least.

A big part of that is people being mistrustful, worried, and critical, and protective of Whitaker, especially Santos. By default I think this would be a massive betrayal to her by Robby, and Whitaker to a lesser extent. It would be really hard to convince her to accept it. I think especially if she found out anything physical had happened between them she would be horrified and honestly break down. Like a full work-inappropriate screaming fit or even physically assaulting Robby.

Also Langdon! I would love Langdon and Santos to unite against hucklerobby as like really fucked and weird on the surface. Especially because Robby is in such a weird headspace, and Dennis is so transparently vulnerable and impressionable when it comes to him.

trinity showing dennis all of the final destination movies because she grew up watching them at sleepovers and wants to be the one to instill in him the intense fear of every single thing around him. the second one ends up being his favorite, while the third remains hers.

when they get to final destination: bloodlines they’re actually on even playing field given that she hadn’t gotten a chance to see it in theaters. about 30 minutes into the movie, dennis turns to her and says, “that guy kinda looks like you.”
