So, I too have fallen for the french cleat, and find much joy in its simplicity.

The latest addition being the shelf for the belt Sander, that also doubles as the jig that I can just Clamp to my work bench and sand away.

So for my next project, Ana Whites Modern Adiron Deck chair, a couple of chairs for outdoor use on the patio instead of pink plastic ones from IKEA.

Had my eyes on these for some time and I love the easy instructional video that assures med that its an easy build. As a n00b in woodworking that is essential for me.

This Time I hade no major problem with inches in the instruction, but I have a few questions / suggestions:

The above image show an alternative way to cut one of the legs; with a mitre saw instead of av cirkular saw. More safe and acurate.

There is a measurement that is 1 inch to long(!) thats the mark for one of the legs to be screwed on the front leg. Correct length is 12 inches up from the ground, not 13.

Why not make as many pocket hole joints as possible? They can easily be hidden, but instead there are visible screwheads all over the chair. On my next one, I will try more pocket holes.

We needed an outdoor bench, so I went with Ana Whites Modern Slat Top Outdoor Wood Bench. I love the simple 2x4 design and straight forward plans. This time I tried to stick with inches and not convert the mensures to metric but, well, Ill get used to it some time.

Made the bench ajusted in length so it would fit in to the place I wanted it, to overlook the garden and sunset.

For some time I have wanted to make some kind of guide for cutting boards with my circular saw. Been saving tons of videos and how-tos from Pinterest by finally settled on How to Build a Simple Circular Saw Guide for Straighter Cuts from Popular Mechanics.

I started out with some left over 400mm plywood for the fence wich i I knew had a factory cut edge. Cut it down to 1300mm just enough to be longer than the board wich by the way is a in swedish ”klickgolv” (floorbords you put together) and glued and screwed it on.

When I was done I was not sure that the fence would be flat enough for letting the motor from the saw so far down as to cut thin sheets. Guess that remains to be seen.

Also drilled a 13mm hole (which not endes up so that the guide will hang straight) and that looks cool. I guess.

Learned a ton with this project and i think I can find low enough fast-clamps at my local hardware store.

My first project Will be the workbench with plans from From Shanty 2 Chic.

Had some trouble converting inches to metric (yes, Swedes use that, too) which ment that when I put it together, the legs were 10mm off on each side. I had to force the top frame in place which led to the legs being somewhat bent. If I had made sure that the parts fit together before I glued and screwed that would not be an issue. But hey, We build We learn. Right? But as my first real woodworking Project it could be much worse.

There are some minor problems with the plan, one part is there is so much wood left. Room for improvement on that. One could make the legs just a little shorter in order to save one whole plank. Again, maybe my converting is the bad thing in this case.

Also, when the plan tells me its Time to flip the bench over to do one thing, thats just wrong. Attach the top frame before you flip The bench (page 5). That saves some lifting.

It also says to put the casters in the middle of the legs, well that depends on your casters. If they are big enough, sure, but if they are somewhat smaller and with breaks you Will have trouble reaching the breake-release with your foot.

The first image is my workbench up until now, two Plastic saw horses with a plywood board. And some paint. Yes, I will keep it because its moveable. The rest are from the process.
