Much of the credit for this "Rustic X" coffee table goes to Ana White, who featured instructions for building it on her website a few years ago. I added 3/4" mitered trim around the top and took several inches off the length, but everything else is Ana's design. So for my next project, Ana Whites Modern Adiron Deck chair, a couple of chairs for outdoor use on the patio instead of pink plastic ones from IKEA.

Had my eyes on these for some time and I love the easy instructional video that assures med that its an easy build. As a n00b in woodworking that is essential for me.

This Time I hade no major problem with inches in the instruction, but I have a few questions / suggestions:

The above image show an alternative way to cut one of the legs; with a mitre saw instead of av cirkular saw. More safe and acurate.

There is a measurement that is 1 inch to long(!) thats the mark for one of the legs to be screwed on the front leg. Correct length is 12 inches up from the ground, not 13.

Why not make as many pocket hole joints as possible? They can easily be hidden, but instead there are visible screwheads all over the chair. On my next one, I will try more pocket holes.

Elegant knobs from Amazon. A bottom covered in stain, then two coats of paint, and sanded / distressed to reveal the darker stain underneath for a visual contrast. A tabletop crafted from reclaimed heart pine from a 200 year old bourbon distillery floor. Finished with oil to accentuate the natural yellows, oranges and reds. Urethane to protect the top from the inevitable spills. • What are you building for your cozy home? Is it toddler-proof? Better yet, is it YOU-proof? Totally kidding. DIY Queen Bed and Side Tables

The furniture was inspired by this Ana White design.

I chose to glue the thick end of the shims down and used a small headed nail to hold the thin end in place.  I overlapped the shims leaving 6″ exposed.  Gluing takes longer but you don’t have exposed holes.  Use only enough glue to hold the shim in place but not enough that it squeezes out and comes in contact with the wood surfaces that need to accept the stain.
