CALL FOR TRANSGENDER ARTISTS
APPLICATION FORM HERE
The Other Side is a group exhibition featuring work by transgender artists of Maryland to be exhibited at The Peale Community Museum in December 2026-January 2027. Showcasing a wide array of creative skill sets, this exhibition focuses on the power of art as an act of triumph and remembrance. The Other Side works to expand a misunderstood narrative of trans experience by celebrating trans community, diversity, and persistence.
I am so excited to be curating this exhibition at The Peale Museum, Baltimore's community museum! I want this show to be huge and diverse, eclectic and joyful, so I need as many of YOU as possible to apply. Please share with all your friends, and let's make it happen!! Happy pride month!
thanks for coming :-)

greetings everyone. i recently spent a stupid amount of money on this baby after she started vomiting every day. one shaved belly and an ultrasound later and we got the great news that it's not cancer! she has inflammatory bowel disease which is very treatable. unfortunately she is due back for a checkup and i still haven't paid off the previous bill.
i'm trying to sell some art (check out @franksinatraisdead for options) but i'm also open up for donations if anyone wants to help my little girl!!!

still selling art and taking donations to cover vet bills for my baby
so i haven't been actively posting my new body of work on tumblr because pretty much all of it violates the user guidelines on sexually explicit content. but my exhibition opening is a great way to see it in person (big paintings!) and i'll be posting about everything on instagram.
“Punctum” by Jonah Brock Opening Reception: Thursday June 4, 2026, 6-9pm Additional hours Saturdays 12-5pm
The Alchemy of Art 1637 Eastern Ave Baltimore, MD 21231
“Punctum” refers to a tear duct, a small opening, or, in photography, to the “part” of a painting which punctures the viewer. In his latest solo exhibition, Jonah Brock presents new work engaging with medical illustration and eroticism. Taking inspiration from nineteenth century surgical illustrations, Brock’s paintings and drawings re-construct queer, marginalized bodies via the medical gaze. Classical medical illustrations, such as those by Joseph Maclise, often depict powerless yet idealized masculine forms being acted on by outside forces, whether these be accessories such as restraints used for securing the body or instruments made to penetrate the surface of the skin. Brock’s work takes the inherent power dynamics depicted in these images and transmorphs them by approaching from a place of submissive intimacy. The works illustrate the act of anti-empowerment that is opening oneself to another.
The opening reception for Punctum will take place Thursday June 4, 2026 from 6-9pm, with additional open hours every Saturday in June from 12-5pm. Presented in conjunction with Abby Fitzgibbon's "Feel Small." Admission is free.

CHARITY AUCTION ALERT !
I don't know about you guys but I'm increasingly disturbed by the state of the world and the abundance of government-sanctioned snuff films at my fingertips. This painting came out of those feelings. I'm donating 100% of the proceeds from this piece to the ACLU. 10 day auction, starting bid $75. Reblogs appreciated.
Bid here.

i decided to go to UMD. happy to discuss grad application process & decision making with other curious artists. it was such an honor to be accepted into MICA & Pratt but UMD better suits my goals.

impotence, oil on canvas, 2026, 34" x 34"
lately i've been painting a lot of erotic art that i can't post on instagram. this is the only painting i've made in the last six months that is sfw. i painted it as a way to deal with certain videos of gun violence that have circulated in the last few months. i find it upsetting that this is safe to post here, when the many paintings i have made about love are not.
i haven't been able to post any of my new body of work here because my new paintings are intensely erotic. so that's why i haven't been around. they're sliding under the radar on instagram however, at @jonahbrock.art
greetings all, i'm having my annual studio sale to clear out some old work i'm no longer exhibiting. this will also go to fund my new projects in 2026. i just applied to grad school and there's a possibility i may be traveling to make paintings in mexico city this year. if you'd like to help out and grab some work while they're discounted, please scroll through the catalog and either shoot me a DM anywhere you can find me or email me at [email protected]
they won't be discounted forever! sale ends in the spring.
catalog here.
trust fall, oil on canvas, 28"x38", 2025
made while in residence at the school of visual art in new york. a two day painting. the last one i shared was removed from tumblr, but hopefully this one is safe.
this new body of work is about sexuality, limits, touch, and tension. in several of these new pieces i depicted hands at work on the body of the other. this takes visual inspiration from 19th century surgical illustrations which often depict the hands of educated white men acting upon inert marginalized bodies. i was interested in the eroticism of these images and playing with/perverting the racial, class & gender dynamics. this piece is perhaps most overtly about similarity vs difference due to the color choices i have made, using many of the same colors to depict the two skin tones.
this piece is also about ease and trust. surrendering to the hands upon you out of desire rather than necessity.
