Eli Roth on the set of Hostel (2005)
‘When I was in New York City, and I was starting to act, I wasn’t booking a lot of stuff, and my mom and I were talking about going back to Kentucky and maybe trying again when I was older. But I was really determined to not give up on acting, and I saw you (Josh Hutcherson) in a newspaper as a boy from Kentucky who was making it in Hollywood. And I took it to my mom, and I was like, ‘Look, he can do this. I can do this, too.’’
This is an Agent Phil Coulson appreciation post.

“Is it hard to meet girls who take you as a real person, not a pop star?” x
okay I’m gonna do something really embarrassing here and wax poetic about a boy band but you know what, it’s 5 a.m. and nobody is here so fuck it
anyway the reason I find these cherubic little rainbow-pantsed assholes so interesting and worth my attention from the perspective of a person who is trying to get into the field of entertainment journalism is that they’re doing this really awesome thing where they don’t give a shit about your societal norms. like, ignore all their lyrics because obviously they didn’t write or even choose those songs, but look at the way they behave and the way they speak and present themselves. the fact that this
is a band of international superstars and this is the way they behave in public all the time and the whole world gets to see that this is their normal and they don’t give a fuck, that this kind of easiness and affection is an okay way for a bunch of boys to be with one another… I have feelings about it, y’all. stuff like this and the quote above are going to be the way that changes start happening in the entertainment industry.
maybe I’m just having all these feelings because I just wrote a term paper on being queer in pop culture but I feel like having a voice like theirs with such a powerful presence is a really great thing. heteronormativity and policing/enforcing of gender roles in entertainment media shape more perspectives than anybody realizes because so much of our lives these days is framed by what we watch and read and listen to. even just these small rejections of that can make a difference. this is how it starts.
I just. idk. I’m just glad they exist.
and now it is time to collapse and sleep for the next ten years
goodnight
can someone explain to me why people, specifically young teens, go to a movie theater and think that while the movie is playing is the appropriate time to socialize and run about giggling and changing seats
because um
i wanna smack every single one of them
