And it’s easy like that for Jongup to drop any mockery sound or words that might come from his mouth because despite of what people think of him he’s not some ruthless bastard that doesn’t acknowledge when something is off with people; and it’s quite easy to detect that exact situation with Veneris.
His brows are elegantly knit together as he takes more steps to get closer to her and she looks so docile looking at him like that he almost feels like prying, getting closer to her.
But that’s just not a Jongup thing, he won’t ever get too curious, he would just offer them space and if they feel like talking, then he’s going to be there.
“I think the lake offers us a nice place for thinking.” It’s supposed to be something okay to start a conversation but Jongup remembers the times in Durmstrang when he would spend hours just looking at the frozen lake, conjuring spells to melt down the ice so he could swim until his bones and muscles would be freezing and he wouldn’t have any other thought in his head but the pain and the feeling he might die from the cold.
At those times he wouldn’t remember of his family and how he was sent to another school because for them a place close to home wasn’t the best place for him. nothing was ever good for him, they thought.
And they were wrong, of course.
“Would you care for some company?” he offers the question to her. If she doesn’t want it, he would take a step back and find another place for his own musings, the lake is quite large for two small people like them.
She’s averted her eyes away from him the moment she had greeted him, eyes taking in the vast lake and the ripples the breeze makes as brush against the surface of the lake. Her toes curl against the grass, feeling the soft soil since they were quite close to bodies of water. She pulls her coat closer her person, yet it does little because she is still cold inside. She feels all too vulnerable to even be comfortable in her own skin, but she’s tired of pretending, even if it’s just for tonight.
“Company would be appreciated.” She mutters softly, glancing up at him and back to the lake, scooting just a bit closer to be able to dip her feet into the water, “Merlin knows I probably need it right now.” and she laughs. It was neither genuine or amused, but hollow. Veneris sits down at the edge, dangling her legs in the freezing cold water, “I suppose I need someone that isn’t Thierry, nor Branwen to keep me grounded.” she mutters the last to herself, “Usually I’d tell you to go back to your common room, don’t I?”
She reaches and rubs the sleep off her eyes, the bags under her eyes a telltale sign that for the past few days she hadn’t been sleeping well, and as someone who has fast metabolism, one could easily tell that she also hadn’t been eating right if they knew her enough. Branwen had been concerned and kept nagging her, to the point where her annoyance actually resulted in snapping at him. She refused to talk to anyone after that.
