Heart to Heart (J'adore) || Jiyoon & Jimin
“I think it should be” she started, her eyes glued to the ground beneath them as if the most interesting scene was unfolding there “I mean… for everyone”.
Jimin was caught be surprise when suddenly, the little waif before him dragged her gaze from the ground to his eyes locking on his gaze as if looking for something.
For a moment… Jimin was struck completely dumb. What had they been talking about? In the time it took for her to look at him…. REALLY look at him, with a subtle intensity he hadn’t seen in her before he had utterly and completely lost his train of thought. If someone had asked him his name he wouldn’t have remembered, much less where the conversation had taken them.
It was only for a split second…. A fraction of a moment but Jimin could swear that he felt something bristling in the air in that one gaze…. Soft yet intense, silent and reassuring at the same time. It was like Jiyoon wasn’t just looking at him in that moment…. But that she was SEEING him, deep down to the very core of his being. For Jimin being intangible was as close to being invisible as he would ever get…. Being able to phase through practically anything gave one a sense of confidence…. Knowing that technically NOTHING could ever hold you down… nothing could ever physically trap him as long as he had his power. But this…. This was different. It was like she had the ability to run through him…. as if she could see every moment of his life from before they met and it was a feeling like something he never knew before, enough to cause him to have the slightest intake of breaths, his lungs demanding penance in their anger for this most unexpected moment where time stood still.
He could feel the heat creeping up into his face as the blood in his veins flooded his cheeks, creating just the tiniest hint of a rosy glow in his otherwise milky complexion. Did she notice? God he hoped not… what would she think of him then? More importantly, why did he care so much what she thought of him? He tried in vain to grasp at any reasoning as to why he felt so strange and came up short…. Why his heart had begun to quicken and his mouth had suddenly gone dry in that one flickering gaze.
Jimin cleared his throat when he saw her glance heavenward, the melodic tune of her voice carrying her thoughts of his answer back to him before he caught up with the conversation again, his body once only reeling slightly from the temporary loss of control her gaze had on him. Innocence was what she had been speaking about…. Probably in response to his poorly thought up and juvenile “Fiji” answer.
But what about innocence? Why was it important?
“But what constitutes innocence noona?” Jimin blurted out before he could stop himself. He could feel himself scrambling again (WHY WAS HE DOING THAT SO MUCH LATELY???) and he bit his bottom lip as he mimicked her earlier move and started at the ground beneath them. Slowly he lifted his gaze, up, up, up… until it leveled with hers once more, his voice quiet as he continued, eager to know her answer.
“Do… Do you think I’m…. innocent?” he asked, the slightest hint of a smile bordered on the precipice of his lips.
The young woman stared blankly into Jimin's direction before her features contorted to display curiousness; although, to him her expression likely conveyed worry more than contemplation. She silently considered his question, attempting to give the most appropriate answer she could. When Jiyoon found the younger's inquiry to be more complex than expected, she lightly shrugged her shoulders as teeth sunk into the familiar bedding of her bottom lip.
“You have good questions, Jimin-ssi.” She replied with a nervous laugh. There was no longer room to doubt he thought of her as a quivering fool by now. That didn't negate the miracle, howbeit, that she still did not feel the need to scurry away while fumbling over her words.
“What constitutes innocence …” Jiyoon trailed off with an audible “hm” as she clasped her hands together tightly inside her lap. “Honestly, my answer would probably differ from your own … And I don't even have a proper formulated response. I don't know how to put it into words. Simplicity? But even that sounds demeaning in some way.” The blonde thought aloud before stopping herself from going further. She hadn't answered his question, so why did she continue to speak? Jiyoon couldn't deny that verbalizing whatever came to mind stimulated an odd sense of relief, but that was no excuse for her to ramble in someone else's ear.
She watched as he mirrored her own habits that stemmed from consistent concern, pouting her lips just barely before swallowing a sudden dry lump within her throat – a lump that curiously developed as she watched the other's gaze ascend painfully slowly from the ground to her own eyes. Jiyoon was unable to define his expression, as well as the sickeningly sweet taste left in her mouth. Quickly the woman began shifting various ways in efforts to relieve the inward discomfort brought about by her stomach.
His question, howbeit, managed to pat the shoulders of her anxiety reassuringly and her posture showed the woman's slight content. Jiyoon allowed his inquiry to bounce through various channels within her mental labyrinth as she first wondered what he wanted the answer to be. After all, the blonde would never forgive herself if her words happened to offend Jimin. Then again, did most people not appreciate honesty? But there was a difference between honesty and harshness … Only those with great skill in language and persuasion could say anything and make it seem positive in some aspect. Jiyoon was certainly not that type of person, no matter how much she could hope. In the middle of her rambunctious, and rather conflicting, thought process the petite woman released a deep sigh before widening her eyes. Had she been staring directly at him the entire duration of her inner conversation? How long had it been!? Seconds? Minutes, hours!? Jiyoon drew in relieving breaths to calm the increasing anxiety before giving her best attempts to dismiss the fact that she was now the circus creep.
“I think ...” She started with noticeable hesitance, “you are not innocent; however, I think you would like to be able to find joy in little things – things that people take for granted or are simply oblivious to. But now that I think about it … most people would probably want that, right?”
A peaceful smile graced her features as she added, “I'm sorry, Jimin-ssi. That probably wasn't the answer you were looking for ...”
