Disjointed, and stream-of-consciousness rant:
1. Empirical truth is undeniable in the face of emotion or opinion. Only under cases of exhaustive scrutiny, rigorous adherence to the scientific method, peer review, statistically generous sample sizes for testing, control, active ingredient and placebo groups, clinical trials, responsible methodologies of action for cause and effect, along with experiment replication through peer review to validate results and eventual publication for public perusal - can the understanding of the empirical truth be debated and/or amended in the face of such mountains of actual data and results.
2. [Opinion] Today's modern music sucks. "Artists" these days use software to sample (steal) from their predecessors and incorporate it into their "new" music, and get by with (as much as) a "Feat. XXXX" footnote. Zero originality, rehashed bars, and lyrics which are so pedestrian that it makes your brain hurt.
3. Climate change is real. It is called seasons. We have 4 of them. There is, however, no "climate crisis". We live on a spinny ball of molten magma with a thin pastry crust. That shit is hot. If you think in terms of GEOLOGIC time, we are still coming out of the last ice age. OF COURSE we are getting warmer...remember that spinny ball of magma...where do you think the heat goes? See point #1 if you have a Greta Thornburg, Biden, or Trudeau knee-jerk response to my climate statement.
4. As an academically-trained biologist, I can say with assurity that there are only two sexes - male and female. These are predicated by your chromasomal make-up, and dictate your biological function in life with respect to the procreation of the species. Your SEX cannot be changed. End of statement. What people are considering "genders" these days is how you feel about what sex you are. When I was younger, we referred to girls that liked to play with soldiers, and dink around in the mud, and go fishing, and build stuff, etc as "tomboys". They were still girls, but they likes to dabble into the more traditionally male activities. Guess what - THATS OKAY. The idea that you are born into the wrong body because of the notion that you are not the gender you THINK you should be, is called gender dysphoria, and is a mental illness (defined as an inability to relate to reality, not as malfunction). As a society, we should stop treating the societal movement as something that is truth...it is a partial truth in that it exists, but it is also true that something is amiss in these folks and they should see a professional counselor or clinical psychologist for proper clinical aid.
4. Just because you BELIEVE something, doesn't mean I have to agree with you. Critical thought, rationalization, and the independent nexus of ideas to come to your own INFORMED decision seem to have gone the way of the do do. The same holds true that just because you SAY something, doesn't make it true either. We are in an unspoken war presently pertaining to the specificity of language. Folks muddle words, and work in sloppy synonyms in an attempt to subvert accepted definitions to fit a narrative. Say what you mean, and mean what you say.
5. The United States of America was founded, and continues today as a Constitutional Republic. We are not a Democracy. There is a difference, and it is a BIG difference. If you don't know what that difference is, take some time to learn by researching or seeking out the wisdom of more well-informed folks and enlighten yourself.
6. [Opinion] The world that I grew up in, and the Country that I held so near and dear to me as a kid is quickly exhaling its last breath and death rattle. We lived a simple life, where parents were the disciplinarians, the molders, the shapers, the role models, and the guiding morality for their children. Respect was earned through hard work, and accolades were given when they were due. Today, discipline and teaching has evaporated from person-to-person communication and has devolved into "asking Google". The internet is simultaneously the best and worst invention in the history of mankind. It has brought knowledge to the fingertips of the masses, and has brought darkness, temptation, and evil to them as well. The inhumanity we could be sheltered from when we were kids is now on your FYP on Tik Tok, and your Twitter newsreel. We have become desensitized to the horror that we can achieve without guidance, and sadly - it is becoming commonplace to see it celebrated.
7. The phrase "assault weapon" has no definition. It has no definition because it is a phrase comprised of an (ACTION) and an (ITEM) which are ambiguous. The term "assault" denotes a method of attempting to do some measure of harm. The term "weapon" can be defined as the item which was used during the commission of a crime. To scream that all "assault weapons" need to be banned is a misnomer. If I grabbed a cat by the tail and threw it at you, it could be classified as an "assault cat". If I threw a haymaker at your face, that's an "assault fist". If I chucked a rock at your car, that's an "assault stone". The terminology is dumb, imprecise and misleading. Be smart and don't pander to others by using dumb words.
8. [Opinion] I believe spirituality is critically important in personal development. I don't mean a strict adherence to religious dogma (but if that's your thing, more power to you) but more an idea of a critical mass of metaphysical awareness of self in relation to the world around you. Find sources of inspiration, awe, placidity, peace, serenity, compassion, personal morality and ethics and love. The best place to look to start is within yourself - try to find what quiets your mind, and live in that moment.
9. If you want, you have to do. To do, you have to try. If you try, you may fail - but that's okay. Failure is a learning experience that teaches you what not to do again. Learn from your experiences and don't make the same mistake twice.
10. Learn to be self-reliant. People are human and are fallible, and are apt to disappoint. Always work to be better than you were yesterday, and stronger than you were just minutes ago. The world can be a very bad place- have a plan not only to survive, but to thrive.
11. You do you. Stay in your lane. Do the next right thing and don't worry what anyone else thinks or feels. Lead by example and live the golden rule. Protect and cherish your family, respect your peers, but know your true value.
