âHey mom,â said Jacob, âcan I⊠ask you something?â
Miranda cleaned the dish soap off of her hands and turned to face her youngest son, who was sitting on a stool behind the kitchen island. He seemed nervous and his cheeks were flushed. She always thought it was cute when he blushed like that. âSure honey, whatâs up?â Her chipper voice was intended to counter his apparent nervousness.
âWell, I was just wondering if, if you want to, we could maybe,â he had been looking down at his hands as he spoke, but he finally made demure eye contact with his mother, âgo on a date sometime?â
Miranda smiled wide. From his demeanor, she had been afraid that her son was going to make some terrible confession. âOf course! That sounds wonderful, sweetie!â She moved around the kitchen island and gave him a soft motherly hug, aware that his face was right against her chest. âDid you have anything in particular in mind?â
âUmm,â he said, slightly muffled. âNot really. Maybe we could just watch a movie or something?â
âThat sounds perfect. How about this Saturday?â
âOk, thanks mom!â His nervousness had turned into excitement.
âOf course, sweetheart. Anything else you wanted to ask me about?â
âOh, could you drive me to soccer practice tomorrow?â
After those logistics were worked out, Jacob bounded out of the kitchen with a new spring in his step. Miranda returned to washing the dishes and became lost in thought. Jacob was usually the most reserved of her sons, but she was surprised that he had been so nervous to ask her on a date. Miranda had previously dated her two other sons, Jacobâs older brothers, at various points, so she was surprised that Jacob seemed so afraid that she would reject him. Hopefully his self esteem wasnât too bad.
Her thoughts turned to her previous relationships with her sons. Although they had both ended, they were less like breakups and more like moving on to the next thing, and their mother/son bonds had not been damaged. She had gone out with her eldest, Harris, on-and-off for several years. Really though, it mostly wasnât âgoing outâ as much as sporadically hooking up, having several day long mother-son sex benders, and then going back to business as usual.
Her middle son, Robin, had been much more romantic. He had asked her to be his date to prom. When Miranda was young, bringing your mother to prom was just about the least cool thing anyone could imagine, but this younger generation had been raised in an age of much more relaxed laws and expectations about sex. Age gaps and incest were completely normal to them, and besides, Miranda did her best to be a âcool mom.â She had squeezed into her old prom dress, which was a little too small after three children, but in a way that the boys at prom found quite fascinating, Robin most of all. Of course, she had to give him the full prom experience, so she had sucked him off in some bushes behind the auditorium.
After that, Robin and Miranda had a passionate, although not exclusive (quite a few of the times Harris had railed her were during this period) relationship. Holding hands, carnival dates followed by makeout sessions in the back of the family minivan, and of course a lot of Robin pounding his mother against her headboard or in the top bunk of the bunk bed he shared with his younger brother. Neither of them were under the impression that their little high school romance would last forever. Robin had had girlfriends before and after his mother, and when he went off to college, they both understood it was time to go back to just being mother and son.
Jacob, on the other hand, had no dating experience at all. Miranda sometimes worried that her youngest was too shy to go after what he wanted. That was one reason she smiled so widely to herself after he had asked her on a date⊠besides the fact that she had always thought he was the cutest of the three.
The next day, Jacob, in his soccer uniform, sat in the passenger seat of the family minivan.
âJacob,â Miranda said, breaking the comfortable silence between them, âdo you have a movie in mind for our date on Saturday?â
âOh, umm,â he had been so nervous about asking her in the first place that he had failed to think that far ahead. âI can look at what movies are out.â
âWe could have our movie date at home, too, if that makes you more comfortable,â she reassured him.
âWell, I guess Iâm fine either way. Which would you prefer, mom?â
*Heâs so sweet, caring about his mom* she thought. But she wanted this to be his plan, not hers.
âWell, I guess it would depend on what kind of date you want it to be. If itâs a flowers and romance date, we should go out. If itâs a your-brothers-said-mommy-is-an-easy-lay date, we can have a night in.â
Jacob blushed at the suggestion. Of course, his brothers had told him that their mother was an easy lay. Not just an easy one, but an enthusiastic, skilled, and eager to please little whore in bed. It would be a lie to say he hadnât taken that into consideration, but he felt there should be something more to their relationship.
âOk,â he said. âIâll look up whatâs playing at the theater.â
Miranda beamed, âOh, romantic I see. Iâm looking forward to it. What should I wear?â
Another thing he hadnât thought about. âUmm⊠something slutty?â
They laughed together as the minivan pulled into the parking lot by the soccer field.
âSo itâll be mostly romantic with a side of mommy-is-easy. Got it.â
âYeah, like 60/40.â He joked sheepishly.
âSounds like a plan. Go get em, tiger.â
He jumped out of the car and she giggled at the sight of the tent in his soccer shorts as he went to find his friends. They grow up so fast.
