Niner padded straight to the batons along the wall. He was early for training, and hummed as he ran his palm down the practice weapon. He was told he was to run an obstacle course today and would meet a new partner. He wanted to make a good impression. 

His partner was late.

Ohio entered the training room thirty minutes late with a big yawn. He’d missed his alarm go off again. He quickly saw the other in the room and waved “sorry, accidentally hit the snooze button one too many times, you must be my partner for this course correct?” he put his hand out to shake “pleased to make your acquaintance”.

“You’re late,” Niner stated as he took the man’s hand. He chose not to comment on his messy hair and atrocious lack of professionalism. 

There’s still hope. Maybe this is only a one time thing.
