honestly im just here for the last two gifs. i just keep watching penny pick up the knife over and over and it makes me feel a little better each time

quentin looks so personally affronted by this. how dare you blade. how dare.

Quentin isn’t my favorite character at all but I really like Quentin as the protagonist, like you have this character who’s your “generic cis het white male” who grows up on a books/movies with the “chosen one” the one that saves them all that 99% look like him. So when everything happens of course he’ll see it like one of the books/movies, everyone wants to be the special one, the chosen one. It’s taught to him from the very start.

But I feel like we see him learn that him being a magician doesn’t suddenly make him the best magician, it doesn’t cure his depression, he gets called out on his racism, not forgiven for his cheating, he learns his childhood stories aren’t sugar and sparkles, that he’s not THE hero and he can’t do everything alone.

Maybe I’m giving him too much credit but I don’t think I ever saw a cis het white male protag like that yet?? (also talking about the show alone since I haven’t finished all the books yet!) Anyway I usually don’t talk about/analyze shows but felt like saying this.
