It's been a wild year on this side of the screen, and my Tumblr blogs (now two) have certainly been a reflection of the fact. Back in March, I left the company I had been working for for the past decade to go to work for myself within the same industry. It was a risk that has entirely paid off, and my end result is half the amount of work hours (now 30 not 60) combined with a 20-30 percent pay hike. A year ago I would have complained that I none of the big three that you need to cultivate happiness: Time, Energy, and Money, and today I find myself with a surplus of all three. Big win.
Yet all the big changes has left me with the emotional and mental bends much of the year. I get phantom thoughts and phantom emotions that go with a life that I've left behind. I'm trying to make the best choices with the new time, money, and energy. I'm trying to slow down for what I feel like is the first time in a decade. Working out that American Corporate Trauma.
Pip was a trooper as I stepped off the diving board to risk diving into a better life with me. If things had not gone well, it would have had huge negative ramifications on our life together - so this year has been scary for her as well. Seeing me take a risk and win big helped to make her brave though, and gave her sails the wind they needed to take her back to college this fall. She is in week two of classes this week. I love that we inspire each other. Onwards and upwards - together.
The time and energy that we have had to dedicate to Tumblr and the lovely people who share this sexy neighborhood with us has been inconsistent and sporadic this year as a result of all these goings on. Some months we have spammed you with content - and some months (like recently) you've gotten zip. Sorry about the feast and famine treatment.
