A-NOPE at the Drive-In || Duncan&Kaley
The hand she’d set on his knee – above his knee – barely move at all, but she kept her eyes on the large screen. At least, this was until his voice broke the silence. Kaley turned, her eyes catching his features even in the dark. “Yeah… I thought it would be better.” She answered. There was a look in his eyes, something noticeable that she couldn’t pinpoint, a question or a suggestion, perhaps. Kaley didn’t know what it was. She didn’t want to leave and let a bad movie – which may not actually be a bad movie if they watched til the end – ruin their date, but sitting and watching it didn’t sound all that attractive anymore. Not when he looked at her like that, and certainly not when she touched him like that.
Kaley took a fleeting glance at his lips then back to his eyes, hoping he couldn’t really see it in the dark. “So… what are we gonna do?” She asked, that hand that hadn’t moved at all suddenly and slowly inching upward on his jeans but stopping before she took things too far.
Kaley’s small hand traveling along his thigh would have rendered Duncan speechless if he wasn’t already struggling with words. He thought she may have glanced at his lips, but it was too dark to tell for certain. “Uh...” he muttered. His fingers had stopped dancing along her skin, hovering above her hip as he continued scrounging around for words. It wasn’t working. He was feeling stupider by the second. Fingers thoughtfully tapping against Kaley’s bare hip, Duncan finally leaned in and kissed her once; a firm, fleeting peck on her throat. It certainly didn’t help him to relax (did the exact opposite, in fact), but he pretended that it did, his shoulders drooping as he fidgeted briefly before seemingly turning his attention back to the movie.
