Hi :) I would like to know what kind of programmes do you use regularly ..or in general, you know. It would help me a lot, since I have to design a kind of logo recently and I like your technique very much.
Hi there! Sorry I’m probably very late to reply. I usually use Paint tool SAI, it’s getting an upgrade right about now, so SAI2 might be a better choice, especially for logos. In my opinion SAI is more like a painting software though, so it might not need your needs for desinging a logo, but if you want to do it in a more painterly style it’s fine for that. I’ve been designing logos lately myself, my method is to grab a really wide marker some cheap paper and brainstorm for hours. When I’m okay with the design on paper I grab Photoshop CS? (anything after cs3 is very good) and usually use vectors to make it look nice, and add effects and such. I’ve used Illustrator in highschool but i’m not fond of it, also if you want to do some 3D stuff you can involve Zbrush. In general I draw the concept in SAI, paint it roughly, go to Photoshop and mess with colours and contrast, go back to SAI and detail further, then go to PS again and resize/mess with colours more. I repeat these steps about 3 times. If you're looking for a freeware software use GIMP, it’s really amazing, a little bit hard to get used to, but in my opinion it’s worth it. (check out dCTb on deviantArt or youtube)
I'm really into this thing now.
I wanted to try screentones in Sai, I think it went well, but I still can't ink traditionally which is very sad.
