Ok so, about the glorious masquerade event. If the fire lotuses drain magic and couldn't do anything to someone without it… why would they not just have Riddle lock everyone's until they got to the bell???? He has??? Collared way more people during book 1 I think???? It shouldn't be a problem??? And they could've gotten to the bell faster too??? Correct me if I'm wrong??? but the solution seems too simple?

I don't think Riddle's UM would work like that? I'm pretty sure it blocks off your access to your magic not your magic itself, so it's possible that the flowers could still drain magic from people collared, also even if it did/does work like that the flowers could potentially just drain the collars magic before going for the people? so it would buy time I guess, this is all just speculation tho I don't know how the flowers would work with Riddle's UM for sure.
