Reunion|| Frankie & Lillian
Frank only had a couple of bags that were left in his car, he’d lugged most of them in earlier that day. Much to his surprise- his mother, Cecelia, had been home from work, as well as his younger sisters, and the new baby. They insisted to go with them to the mall- the twins always got their way, especially now that his mother hadn’t been at work. He didn’t think she’d end up actually going back. His afternoon was spent going from store to store, with the occasion stop for other shopper to gawk at the baby. He figured he’d be there for the rest of the day, but the trip only lasted a couple of hours. They were back at the house by 1pm. It’d given him time to nap- and enough time for his mother to bake cookies, which she’d persisted on Frank taking them over to Lillian’s house. Cecelia- Frank often called her by her first name, rather than mom- wouldn’t take no for an answer. Anna, Frank’s girlfriend had been messaging him all day, nonstop texts about: how he was, if he missed her, how soon until he will come visit. It got old. He rolled his eyes- and slid the phone into his pocket.
Frank made the two block walk easily- the family friends weren’t as far as he remembered them being. The sun’s heat forced beads of sweat to begin to form on his head. The temperature peaked at 100- terribly hot for the summer. He couldn’t believe it had already been an entire year at school. He reached the door of the house- and took a deep breath. The phone buzzed in his pocket, but he ignored it. He pressed the doorbell- he could hear a jazzy tone played through the wood of the door. He rocked on his heels as he waited for the door to open.
