Sooo.

Alright, word vomit pending. First of all, I think everyone’s finally back in school, so like, high fives are in order. And good lucks. Anyway.

Short version: got detention super early this semester, thanks to a certain bird. Then I got grounded for getting detention again, no surprises there. Nate broke up with his girlfriend Alana and somehow damage control fell to me? As if I know anything about dating? If you guys have advice send it my way I’m Begging

And an update on my escape from the diner from weird lady and stealing Robin’s bike: Robin caught me on my way back in Nate’s car and now I’m (we are, sorry Nate) trapped in their weird blackmail, as if getting me into major detention wasn’t enough for them. Sadistic weirdo. Said something about Homecoming Week, as if that doesn’t scare the fuck out of me. Anyways, back to the point... I haven’t seen the woman here at the diner. Then again, I was grounded as shit for the last couple of weeks, so who fucking knows cause Payton’s still saying she has no idea what I’m on about.

And I’m still having the fishing dream, but something is different? Like someone’s messing with my stuff. Idk how I know that. I just do.

Okay that’s kind of all on my end. How are you guys holding up? Very serious about needing advice to help Nate and Alana cause they’re both bugging the hell out of me over this and I’m not a relationship advice kinda guy. Also maybe legal advice so I can get a restraining order against Robin before HoCo rolls around?

i think the whole bike thing is the best idea but if anyone says otherwise because yeah youd be going back but would the mysterious lady still be there you think?

The bike is probably the safer idea, because 1. it would mean keeping myself away from whatever horrifying prank/scheme Garrett will set for me, 2. Robin’s vaguely harmless.

As for if she’ll be here when we drive by later, uh. I hope not. I’m usually not for taking reckless gambles, but hey, no one’s offering up a better idea.

I guess I’ll be borrowing Robin’s bike. I’ll text Payton about keeping them occupied until practice is over and I can return it. I just hope you’re right about the lady not being here in a few hours.

Escape From Rodney’s:

ANYWAYS I need an escape route. I’m gonna go grab my bag and shit, leave money, and run. I’ll text Payton later, I just do not want to be here with that girl any longer.

So I have a couple of options. Either way the goal is football field so I can at least ride with Nate and not have to walk all the way home. So I can:

Cut through Garrett Leeds’s backyard. 

Pros: Fence is easy to hop and directly gets me to school within minutes. 

Cons: It’s Garrett. And if he sees me breaking into his backyard again, I’m gonna find my gym clothes missing tomorrow.

Steal Robin Oh’s bike. 

Pros: They never lock their bike up and they’re clearly studying for Mr. Montgomery’s calc test, which means Rob’s stuck here at the diner for who knows how long and I can return it whenever Nate’s done with practice. 

Cons: stealing is kind of a felony, and coming back to return Robin’s bike defeats the purpose of escaping the diner in the first place.

Help me out fast.

RIGHT. SO. Currently typing this from the toilet, gonna try to be brief.

I went up and talked to her. She’s got this like, weird aura about her, not sure how to describe it. Definitely older than me? Probably a college girl. I said hi, she ignored me. So I asked her why she was looking at me, still no answer. So I started to leave. Then she said:

“The wheel’s begun to turn.”

And then she drew something on my hand and, looking me dead in the eye, said, “you cannot do this alone, Magnus Vega.”

And then I ran away and peed. I didn’t look at what she drew, but I’m looking at it now. Sorry for the smudging, it’s like 2 parts sweat 1 part dousing my hands and face in ice cold water:

Made her come back around and pose. Work uniform really cramps her whole “totally chill and totally punk rock” vibes but I think she makes it work.

While here, asked her if she could see goth girl now, and she did this squinty eyed thing, looked at me, and said she was gonna go make sure her uncle wasn’t spiking my food with cough medicine. Too scared to turn around though and see if the goth girl’s still staring my way. Advice?

Soooo I’m not doing that again. Which is a horrible situation, cause I have to get up to pee and the bathroom is in that direction. And eventually I have to go back to campus to ride home with Nate.

Update: I forced Payton to come back and asked her about this goth girl. Now, I’m always convinced Payton’s fucking with me. That’s like, our thing. This is one of those moments.

She just looked me dead in the eye and said, “Max, you’re the only person in that photo.”

But like, if you see her, and I see her, she’s in the photo. Payton’s too busy to argue with about it though.

Hey, thanks for this, Anon. You’re probably right. I got, what, until like June to figure shit out? So who knows what might happen between now and graduation.

Dreams wise, yeah. It’s odd. I keep feeling like I should be doing something more than just sitting there fishing, but I don’t know what. Like, you know how dreams you can’t really control what’s happening? I feel like I can control things there. Like I can get up and move around, but I don’t know where to go. Maybe I’ll try see if I can do something next time I’m dreaming about that place.

I don’t catch fish.

I need to vent. So the school year’s like two days in and it’s already exhausting. Does anyone have any advice for surviving their senior year? I feel like I just... don’t have direction. Like I’m just going to school cause it’d make my dad and grandma upset if I don’t.

I guess that’s a little dumb, right? I should like, be excited to graduate. But I’m just not. I don’t know what I’m doing after high school. Maybe I’ll just be stuck here in Saint Bell forever, eating fries at Rodney’s and talking aimlessly at you guys.

But unrelated to senior year plights, I’ve been having this weird dream lately. I’m fishing on a lake that’s a clear mirror of the sky. Purple and pink. There’s two moons here, for some reason. And I don’t catch any fish, but it just feels like I’m waiting for a fish to show up. Like, the Big One. The Catch of the Day. But it hasn’t shown up yet. It’s been about four nights, now, and still no fish.

I... probably sound crazy. Just not used to vivid dreams, I guess.

What the hell am I supposed to say? Just walk up to him in the hallways like, “hey Anthony, I used to be crazy stupid in love with you when we were 14, remember that year in gym when you hit that volleyball so hard it spiked right off the back of my head and I got a concussion? That was Cupid’s fucking arrow striking me, my man. Wanna see a movie Saturday?”

Payton, jesus christ, she was reading over my shoulder again. She said this is the perfect way to ask a guy out. What are you thinking?

It’s... not a matter of if I’m “interested” still or not. I made my peace not being noticed, and I moved on. We’ve barely talked, so it’s fine, you know? So even if I still think he’s like, cute, what’s the point of chasing after something that’s never gonna happen? (And trust me, it’s never gonna happen.)
