“Mmm,” Lia was surprised by what came out of the little brunette’s mouth. She liked it. In fact, it even turned her on a bit. “I’d say your…. assets….” The blonde looked the girl up and down, unabashedly. “–are being put to good use.” Taking down the male species was one of Lia’s passions.
Lilith let out a small laugh, a soft sound that matched her youthful appearance. She noted the other’s gaze, a smile playing at her lips as she shook her head. “If you aren’t careful, a girl might just think you’re hitting on her. And so soon after trying to scare her off.”
little-avyanna:
“Yep I’m the freak mermaid.” She huffed. She offered her a gracious smile, that’s all she wanted. She was independent yes, but she craved the same attention most merfolks did. “Thank you, I really hope you’re right. So, are you a siren then?”
“I wouldn’t say you’re a freak. A bit of an odd case, but who knows? Maybe something happened to separate you from your family,” she offered, running a hand through her hair. “Have you enrolled at the academy? There are several other merfolk taking classes there, maybe they could help. And, yes, I am a siren.”
skyler-the-wizard:
Last he saw was something move near him and an appendage wrapping around him. He briefly wondered if he encountered an overly friendly octopus before the lack of oxygen shut down his sight and mind. Like no time passed, he was suddenly being kissed while the two were floating on the surface of the ocean. The other felt warm against him, as if their pure body heat was touching his. In his dazed state, he looked over the other person, slowly registering that they were beautiful, they were female and they were naked. His eyes instantly focused and his face burned, growing even redder when he realized he was naked as well and his muscles were absolutely tired. He couldn’t move as she swam with him and dragged him up the shore.
When on the sand, Skyler still found it hard to comprehend the situation and his embarrassment caused his body to seize up. He continued to stare blankly at the sky above him as millions of thoughts raced through his mind. ‘Am I a proper man now that I have done it? Is this the end of my innocent teenage years? Will I need an image change? Maybe nothing happened… I don’t remember any of it,’ Skyler tried to reassure himself as he mentally assessed his body. His limbs felt heavier and more tired than he could remember, and his mouth tasted salty and wet. His cheeks burned painfully as he realized he very probably did do the nasty with this unknown lady.
She spoke and he turned to face her, looking horrified. Last Skyler could remember was having a race in the ocean, did that somehow turn into a very daring adult game? Did they really do it in the water? Was that even possible?! He stared at her for a long moment trying to speak and form words, before he quickly sat up and attempted to cover himself. He was immensely grateful he was still wearing his dark grey undies, wishing they were a chastity belt.
“I- I-…” Skyler’s jaw moved up and down and his throat made some strange noises as he tried to speak. “I- I’m Sky..-ler, n-n-n-nice to meet-” his voice was caught in his throat as he extended a shaking hand. His other arm wrapped tightly around his legs, which were pulled up tight against his chest.
Lilith had to admit that saving people was almost as rewarding as luring them into the water, though much less satisfying when it came to the hunger she felt beginning to creep its way into her. Had the blond been older, less naive, she might not have obeyed the laws in place to protect the locals. Still, he was young and relatively fun, if a bit odd, and currently looked more like a soaked pup than a meal. She watched the variety of emotions that played across his face, a small smile on her lips in spite of her trying to remain neutral. It felt almost cruel to tease him, to allow him to try and work out what he had missed, especially when the blush on his cheeks suggested he had some sort of overactive imagination.
Standing while he processed everything, she quickly ventured down the beach, braiding her hair out of her face as she went and returning with her pile of clothes as well as his sweater. She shifted the clothes in her arms, reaching out to shake his hand.“Pleasure, Skyler. Put this on, then get to your knees and try coughing a bit. You likely have water in your lungs, and if you can’t get it up yourself I’ll need to take you to a doctor to make certain you won’t get sick.” She tossed his sweater to him as she spoke, pulling her own clothes on once her hands were free.
“I’m Lilith, though most people call me Lily.” She knelt back in the sand beside him, sitting with her legs under her as she watched him. “You know, the next time you challenge someone to a swimming race, you may want to consider the weather, and the distance. You’re lucky I was here, next time I might not be.” While her words sounded like she was scolding him, her voice was soft and warm. “Trust me when I say drowning is not a pleasant experience. The sea is a harsh thing, and she will pull you down if you do not show her the respect she commands.” Sometimes, even if you do.
“Where do you live? At the very least, you need dry clothes, and a warm shower would definitely do you some good. It’s a sad day when my body heat reads higher than yours.” She stood, offering a hand to help him up.

“Yes,” he closed the file and put it back into the dented cabinet, shutting the drawer so loudly the metal scraped and reverbed through the garage. “Sorry,” he muttered to her after realizing it might have been a shock, but it was the only way to close the cabinet completely, otherwise it would just slide right open again. “There is problem vith sway bar, it needs to be replaced.” Someone was mean to call her, so that they could get the okay to order the parts needed, but he figured no one actually did that, meaning he now had to break the news to her. “Two hundred US dollars for new sway bar. You are lucky. If back sway bar vas broken, it vould be seventy fifty hundred,” he paused then corrected himself, “seven fifty hundred… Does hundred go before fifty or after?” He wasn’t too sure, he was still getting the hang of the American numbering system. “Anyway, it is two hundred for the sway bar, and seventy for every hour of vork. If you are okay vith this, I vill put order in for part now.”
The sound caused her to wince slightly, though she shook her head. “Don’t worry about it.” She nodded slightly as she listened, smiling faintly. “Before. Seven hundred fifty. I can pay whatever is needed, just give me a number when it’s done. Is cash alright?” She had rarely met people that turned down cash over check or card, but she had learned the hard way that some places weren’t open to receiving larger sums in cash. “If not, it’s fine. I’ll just need to remember to pick up a prepaid debit card before coming in.”
little-avyanna:
The language of her people..? Last time she checked the only language Avyanna ever spoke was english. But why did the native tongue strike a chord of familiarity in her?
“I-I’m not sure. It sounds familiar, but I’ve never heard it before. I don’t have a pod.”
“No pod? I find that a bit difficult to believe, given the nature of most merfolk I’ve met. Still, you’ve chosen a relatively good place to end up. You’re bound to find at least one person that could teach you more about your kind,” Lilith offered, smiling slightly. It was hard to imagine the girl had no pod, most merfolk were such close knit groups of people. Still, at least in Sumner the girl could easily find others of her kind.

How she went from so dazed to so coherent baffled him, and he wondered if he’d jarred her awake somehow by colliding with her legs. Still, she asked him politely to move so he obliged – rising from his crouch and sauntering a step back from the seated girl.
And once again, Isaac took on the exhausting facade of a kind newcomer that was starting to bore him to tears.
“Pay no mind to the cell.” The thing flew back into his hand and the witch tucked it into his pocket. “I’ve dropped it and thrown it so many times that I ended up charming a shield on it.” Granted, the charm also burned his fingers when he touched it, but whatever. He was about to walk away, but halted mid-step. There must be a reason why the girl was on a sidewalk; he doubted she was a bum.
“Now that you’ve said I’m Fine,” which he iterated in a girly voice, “are you sure you’re alright?”
She pushed herself to her feet within moments of him backing up, dusting herself off and shifting to lean against the building. Her gaze followed the cell as it zipped back into his hand, raising an eyebrow. “That certainly is handy, I suppose. Can’t say I ever thought to use charms to protect objects from physical damage like that.” She groaned internally, mentally scolding herself. She was reaching the point of exhaustion that led to her talking too much. Whether it was his practiced facade or her lack of real focus, she bought his act without any questions.
She bit back a laugh at his attempt at a feminine voice, shaking her head slightly. She wasn’t alright, but that was hardly something that she could fix at any moment soon. Winter meant leaving town to feed, and leaving at the moment meant she needed to head down to the beach.
She managed to pull on a small smile. She’d already tripped the man, she had no real reason to inconvenience him any further. “I appreciate the concern, but I assure you I will be perfectly fine. I’m just a bit tired, and hungry.”
little-avyanna:
Walking through the town a newspaper with the employment adds circled and highlighted tucked under her arm. Seeing the girl on the ground she was going to pass over her, she looked to angry to be tampered with. But hearing the words fall from her lips a rush of familiarity rushed over Avyanna.
Turning towards the girl she knelt down in front of her, inspecting her for anything that reminded her of her past life. “May I ask what you just spoke?”
“The language of your people,” Lilith sighed softly, taking in the sight of the maid in front of her. “’Ffa bi oowii’, I am hungry.”
The brunette was an unfamiliar face, likely someone new in town, but it was clear enough to the siren that this girl was a mermaid. “Have you never learned mermish? Most pods I’ve encountered still teach it to their children.”
ephrampettaline:
“Hey there,” Ephram paused next to the girl, bumping his hip against the wall before sliding down to crouch next to her. “You doin’ all right?”
One of the things he’d realized very swiftly about Sumner after moving here was that there was that working-class was about the lowest the supernatural town went, society-wise. For Ephram, who had grown up in abject and unabated poverty, this was a strange thing to adjust to, but upward mobility was always easier to grasp than downward. But it didn’t mean he’d forgotten what it was like to be hungry and listless, and that’s what this girl looked like, sitting on the sidewalk like a cut-string marionette.
“I can call somebody if you like,” he offered. “It’s a mite cold to be out here in just what you’re wearin’.”
The siren only half opened her eyes to watch the man that was speaking to her, half considering driving him away in some way or another. His presence certainly wasn’t doing anything to ease her hunger. “No, I’m not. But only because I’m too lazy to do anything about it.”
His concerned behavior was something she’d seen more in Sumner within the last two decades than she had in the majority of her life, and it was still something she was unused to. Shifting her position until she was cross-legged and out of the way of passers-by, she studied him as he spoke, a small grin on her lips as she shook her head.
“I’m afraid I’ve got no one to call, at least not on the phone. Thank you though,” she returned, glancing down at herself with a shrug. “I don’t mind the cold, and didn’t think about wearing anything warmer when I wandered out this morning.”
julietcavanaugh:
She smiled, amused by the other woman’s words. “We can’t have that, can we?” She shook her head; she was one of those who walked almost everywhere in heels - it was her shoe of choice, though that wasn’t to say she didn’t know how to put something a little more sensible on every now and then. “They’re not difficult to walk in, once you get used to it.” As the topic shifted to the sea, she added, “Perhaps if you had an underwater camera.” They had to have something like that, right? Juliet didn’t keep up with the latest in technology.
“Perhaps I’ll have to give them another chance.” Lilith nodded slightly at the suggestion. “I have tried those a time or two. They’re getting better, but I haven’t found one yet that can reach the depths I need, at least not that an average person can get ahold of.” She supposed she could order one specially, but it seemed like more effort than she truly wanted to invest in something she’d only use once or twice. “I’m Lily, by the way. I don’t think I’ve introduced myself yet.”
