siennaleecyreusâ:
Sienna jogged along behind the dog as it wandered an alley. What if he starts digging through bins for a snack? Maybe I shouldnât take him as pet, Sienna thought and wrinkled her nose.
âWha?â The pooch had responded to her remark, and once again used Skylerâs voice. She squinted at it, as it pawed at its head, as though that might reveal some sort of trickery. Has Skyler dressed up in a dog costume? This seemed way too realistic for that. âYou sound like my friend Skyl-â she began mumbling as she watched.
âAaaaahhhhhh!â Sienna shriek and leapt backwards as the golden dog morphed into the form of her friend. She took a few breathes and tried to compose herself. âYouâŚâ she felt all confused and disorientated. Reality had just changed before her eyes. Was that how people felt after she used illusions on them? âI patted you,â she said slowly and gave a few blinks. Her mind was starting to slingshot back into place. âWait, Skylar! You did magic! You did magic!âÂ
She jumped over the crown where it lay between them and reached out the wizard, bouncing in excitment. âYou finally tapped into your magic!â
âI did! I did!â he bounced with his best friend, rattled with excitement and energy. âI finally did it! After all this time!â He let out an exasperated laugh and wiped the building tears from his ocean blue eyes. âI guess I just needed the right instrument.â He twirled the crown around his hand, marveling at the jewels sparkling in the dimmed sunlight. He had never heard of any witches or wizards using a crown instead of a wand, though he vaguely remembered glancing through a dusty dry book that talked about things called a âFocusâ. Perhaps thatâs what he found? Or perhaps it found him? He smiled warmly at golden band, feeling it becoming a part of himself. âYou know, Iâve been dreaming of this moment forever but now itâs come to it... I have no idea what to do next. I have infinite possibilities right here in my hands. How am I suppose to choose? Iâve been struggling with magic for so long and have dreamt up so many things I want to do but none of itâs coming to me.â Though he spoke aloud, the words were mostly for himself. He continued to stare down at the crown, completely transfixed by the shining stones. âI can finally run with the werewolf packs, swim alongside the merfolk and seals, even fly across the sky! I want to do it all...â His eyes grew wide and his voice dropped low as he felt the power emanating through him. This familial yet impossibly strong power... He never wanted to let go.
His mind snapped back to reality and tore his eyes off of his new treasure. He shone an almost maniac smile at Sienna and shoved the crown onto his mess of sandy blond hair. âSo, what do you wanna see first? I can be anything!â
