So! Tumblr update

 

TL;DR:

I won't be making any noticeable or immediate changes to my posting on tumblr for now. Though i'm going to start being more active on my other socials and prepping all that for a possible shift. I'll also be looking for a different tumblr-like site to scratch the blog itch. This will likely be in the form of me opening a pillowfort account. But with all of this said, i'll keep posting to this tumblr until it becomes pointless.

In the meantime while we wait to see what'll happen, here's my other socials and places!

OK longer version:

I very much consider tumblr my "main" social, I really like the posting format and general blog vibe and tagging system, functions like asks and even a commenting and reply system. And an edit system, wowsers!

So the implications of the update are troubling. The changes may be reverted, as the staff now seem aware that we don't like it, but this can just as equally be the turning point on tumblr's usability. So to plan for the worse, I've been doing some scheming!

In the case that tumblr really doubles down and locks all these changes in (or worse), I will be slowly branching my presence off of tumblr. Generally I haven't been online as frequently for the past year or so due to work, but I do enjoy being able to come on when I can.

I'll likely be more active on my other platforms (Mainly more active on my bluesky, but it'll probably trickle into my instagram activity as well)!

I am also heavily considering making a pillowfort account to scratch the itch of a tumblr-like site. And if I do, i'll make a post about it later.

been super busy with work!! but wanted to share this EXTREMELY rough and conceptual creature capture/creature raising thing. something i'd like to work more on when i get the time! and a lil dude for testing stuff

Here's another thing, I used assorted references and the 3D models of the Battle Subway trains from BW/BW2 to make some more stuff for @fronomeeps' Desk Station. Or mostly just the same thing in 8 different flavors. Here's the Battle Subway trains (with a few minor liberties taken to make them look nice). Single, Double, Multi, Super Single, Super Double, Super Multi, Wifi and Anville Trains.

I've been having an absolute blast with Desk Station made by @fronomeeps. it's a complete delight, as are the lovely submas sprites made by @cecilioque. I'm not much of a pixel artist, but I still played around with importing some other sprites and also drew a little Gear Station... Station. The properly formatted version is under the cut along with other sprite sheets I played with.

You'll have to rearrange the benches, but they just go under the lights.

I imported the OFF Tram Sprite to play with, but I drew Thomas, an Annie/Clarabel car and the caboose. I also imported a clip of one of Thomas' whistles to play when a train arrives.

A depot agent, The Batter and The Judge were the first ones I messed with. I think the depot agent sticks out a bit with all the other characters, but it grew on me.

Then I messed around with Pokémon Mystery Dungeon sprites from both The Spriters Resource and PMD Sprite Repository. Pikachu and Meowth are both from the original games, but Patrat and Minccino were custom made and uploaded to PMD Sprite Repository.

Could there possibly be a labeled version of the templates? Just so we know what each slot is meant for?

yea of course! here's the character templates but with labels!

small fix for desk station!

patched an issue where passengers sometimes wander off the platform and off your screen or onto the track! its kinda funny and doesn't really break anything so i left it up in case you want your creatures to periodically "escape", but another version is now up that fixes this (1.0.1)!

@fronomeeps made a desk station. It looks amazing so I made some custom submas sprites to go with it.

Instructions:

Get program

Save submas png files

Open Character tab

Click Character Folder button

Drag PNG file into folder

Click "Reload" (On the program)

Enjoy

You can use the Submas sprites as long as you don't trace or take credit for them.
