i understand that w savage raiding its a whole other beast but it does make me laugh when friends complain abt dropped framerate bc for me personally my avg gameplay looks like a slideshow. my 1fps (maybe even 2)

the attitudes around addiction (whether its like. substance dependence or video game gacha) truly piss me off. its just not helpful to act as if its a matter of moral superiority or “just being a smarter/wiser/more experienced/etc person.” the ableist “well you made the decision to do this so anything and everything bad that happens is entirely your fault“ rhetoric pinned on ppl w substance dependence or gambling addiction frequently ignores the broader conversation of addiction and predatory business models that purposely feed into addiction to make profit off of vulnerable ppl. it v much focuses on Personal culpability while ignoring all else. the “only you can help yourself” is true in the sense that no amount of outside help will do anything if the person in question truly does not want the situation to change, but the positing of the situation as one of like. moral failing is entirely unhelpful Especially given how so many ppl Do in fact want to have more control but circumstances mean that they struggle to extricate themselves from a system that creates and encourages addiction. if ur intent is to help, then anyone without their heads shoves up their ass will understand that punching down never helps ppl who need help. u need to, u know Actually Help Them by providing resources and information and structures to support them thru the process of addiction recovery + management of conditions that may have been exacerbated/preyed on in the first place. and any “critique” of the individual within this structure NEEDS to also include the system itself, otherwise your arguments lack a v integral part to the conversation and thus are absolutely fucking useless for any meaningful discussion. they are only good for feeding ur ego

and like. if u wanna feed ur own ego abt it then do that ig, its not like theres anything anyone else can do to stop u from that. but understand that in doing so u cannot ignore the fact that it is an entirely selfish thing. u are not helping ppl, u are not providing “necessary objectivity,” u are expressing an opinion that is in such ignorance and bad faith underpinned by self righteousness that u rly should just keep that shit to urself!

the thing is that the times ive made the most progress in my art ability it was always bc i fixated on some thing that meant that i had to suddenly get rly good at drawing that thing or id hate myself. so im at a point in the writing process where im like "i cant decide what to do with this particular design thing. so i am going to make a decision based on 'what design will make me get rly good at drawing something that i am ass at rn'"

its just so bleak w major online comic industry accelerating a longtime issue re: the continued devaluation of creative works and their creators for the sake of profit that largely doesnt even go to said creators without absolutely insane workloads deadlines and restrictions -> the limited creative freedom and restrictive environment leading to a homogenization of the medium and even individual stories in general bc the primary purpose is to generate profit above all else. and unfortunately creatives who want to do this for a living have little choice but to use the platforms of the behemoths in the industry bc said behemoths have thoroughly established as The central hubs to access this kind of fiction and launching personal platforms requires more than new creators have and by tge time they have any resources to do so their ass and works are owned by the publisher
