Any advice for a new artist? I've been in the tracing stage for nearly a year and don't seem to be getting any better :/
(I forgot these inbox submissions exist Iām sorry)
Tracing is actually fine because from tracing, it trains you to recognise shapes and forms just from pattern recognition. Sorta like muscle memory. If youāve been tracing merely for the sake of tracing, you wont get better. When I first started drawing, I traced manga panels until I understood how a body should look like. Youāll have your downs, it ebbs and flows so donāt feel discouraged.
You can also practice/learn a form a day. By that I mean today you study how to do eyes (how it looks from different angles, eye shapes), tomorrow you study face shapes (depending on the style you like). I would suggest to focus more on realism and semi realism when you do study it though, because it helps you translate it to multiple styles better.
How I like to do it is have a reference photo next to your canvas, try to āreplicateā what you see. Compare your work with the ref side by side, same size and everything. That way you can observe what seems off and what you get right. Donāt be too detailed. Do chicken scratches, do messy sketches. Hell, do vague shape blocking. Start big before getting to the small details.
i need to tell you your enjin hand art just changed my life. im not the same person i was mere seconds ago.
Lmao??? Iām happy it makes so many people feel so many things, and frankly Iām surprised at how many ppl saw it. Lucky for you, another Enjin hand art is done, and Iām posting it soon š

Twt is still a pain though, barely any reach there so this definitely made me more motivated to draw more of Enjin šš hands especially, my fav
