this woman seemed soft, thus, his words weren’t sharpened. no time was taken to poke at the tones, shifting their ups and their downs. scout didn’t gaze intently upon each syllable, adding a spice only used on the strongest of foes. the lazy route. the shortcut. after all, this woman was thought of as weak.
she was thought of wrong.
what a moron he was.

“ how ‘bout a round of ‘ let’s let th’man ‘outta ‘da cage? ‘ “
he’s snapping, now, words crazed due to poor preparation. sharpening wasn’t a quick task, not for most. you had to use your tools carefully, each point of sarcasm and each point of strife made into a deadly weapon to be shoved towards your foe. now, though, the words mosey on through the shredder. they fall apart quickly. he sighs.
“ …anythin’ but ‘ twenty questions. ‘ “
lips purse & eyebrows furrow at his sudden plea for release. she doesn't expect the sudden raise of pitch & volume , the sudden burst of frustration. it's not like mei could blame him ———— she's sure she'd be the same in his situation. maybe even worse.
her tense posture relaxes when he sighs & agrees to her offer. it comes as a welcomed surprise to her. just a few moments ago the man seemed ready to break out of there himself , her question being the breaking point. the metal folding chair she'd brought in earlier creaks in protest as she moves it to face him & she takes a seat with a sigh.
a whole other set of issues comes with the acceptance of her offer ; what are they supposed to do ? her first thought was , ironically , 20 questions. you couldn't blame her ———— it was a good bonding activity ! she knows little of this scout figure besides his criminal history. not exactly a great starting point , mei thinks.
' well , uhm. ' she pauses. ' there . . . goes my first option , then. do you have any ideas ? '
