To shake the piggy bank and hear the pennies rattle
I remember the melodic jingle of her pennies best and too her firm, deadly mouth kissing and sucking at my chest. The unreachable softness of her movement pulled me down, pushed me low….and in the underworld she blessed me with unsure kisses to soften the blow. (Always nervously slipping in and out of me as if she didn’t know where to go) I hate these guilty tides of pain, I’m wide eyed, stiff: washed up on shore. It’s unknowingly yanking at my flesh, fumbling frantically at my core. In my cold dark room (which with you is solace) empty promises echo and spin: half-full jars of pennies scatter the floor, face plastered with an evil grin. I want to cut myself in half for you but already I’m too thin. Pretty corpses lay motionless, pressed against the earth of my mind. A graveyard of my self destruction, in the depths of my soul (in hell) they hide

South African Label OATH Studio’s SS16 Lookbook Gets Retro and Blurs Gender Lines.
Channeling aspects of South African township culture in the 80s and 90s, a period in South African street style where the “culture of androgyny was at its peak,” as noted by the shoot’s photographer Kristin-Lee Moolman, the latest lookbook from South African fashion designer Rich Mnisi’s OATH studio label blurs gender lines and explores a different side to current queer youth culture in South Africa through a retrospective lens.
The shoot, shot in Soweto, features various faces that speak to the diversity within this subculture, is made up of a cast that includes: Janet Otobo, a professional model, Wayne Swart, a student street cast on the way to the shoot. Aart Verrips, a photographer, Lucky Macheke – an accountant and Mnisi’s cousin and Desire Marea, one half of FAKA, a black queer art duo who use performance as a means to explore their complex identities.
