James Blake - The Colour In Anything mini-review
AUTHORS NOTE - This is of course just one man's point of view and not everyone will recall their exes or past relationships, but for me it connected and resonated with it and her and so my review mostly expands on that aspect for a good portion of it. The Colour In Anything's beginnings are not a pleasant or easy listen for me. It makes my chest physically hurt, it makes my heart want to drown and it makes my eyes want to close for a long, long time. In the best way possible this album is a gut-wrenching, heart churning and then fulfilling masterpiece. I knew nothing of James Blake except that Kanye had spoken highly of him, he made alternative R&B and he was from the UK and made one of the most creative and interesting (to me) songs entitled "The Wilhelm Scream", I then listened to a song of his that featured an artist I know, Chance The Rapper entitled "Life Round Here", I was blown away by it. I listened to a few cuts from his self-titled 2011 album but nothing really sat with me, yet I knew James Blake was a name to look out for - anywhere. So, the new album drops and I turn it on, not sure what to expect except something interesting, immediately after the first song ended my heart had sunk and the memories of my ex and our break up haunted my mind and this album really put me into a rut, a dump. But a rut and a dump I didn't want to get out of, I can't help but to listen to the first half of this album on repeat over and over, not to say the second half falls off or anything close to that just that the first half hits me so hard with it's lyrics and overall sound. For anyone that says Take Care by Drake is an emotional ex recalling album, take a listen to the first six tracks off of this and think. For the first time, an album actually sits with me and I recognize myself in it. Sucks it had to be a sad album, but hey, Atleast it was this sad album. Of course not the entire album is emotional in that aspect, such songs as "I Hope My Life", "Two Men Down" & "Always" are happier in sound and maybe in lyrical content as well, but still happy is an emotion too and James Blake does many emotions on this album well in various forms. Overall this album is full of emotion, heart and soulful vocals. It's made me want to re-listen to that self-titled I remember almost nothing about and more. James Blake's new album is perhaps the best album of 2016 already and it'll be hard to top it. From the bottom of my re-broken heart, I thank James Blake for this work of art and for the internet for hyping it up so much on social media and other places for me to check the fellow out initially and then this album. this album receives a strong 9 out of 10 from me, i'd recommend the tracks Radio Silence, Points, Put That Away and Talk To Me & My Willing Heart

Being Alive increases your chance of Dying by 100%
Practically I’ve not played a character on the screen where I’m a thinking ordinary man, he is actually closer to me than any other really. So it’s not such a departure from being myself, obviously he’s a character, with camouflaging accents and stuff like that. The actual difficult mental work of some of the conversations was much closer to home than say playing Bronson, when you… create a world and a fantastical character, embellishing it with imagination. This ultimately comes back to script, and connecting with the person on the other end of the phone, the scene partner I’m working with. It’s more like an analytical therapy session. This is a bloke in an environment who’s having a very bad day, he’s performing heart surgery with his thumbs… Whatever voice goes down that phone has to be mellifluous and calm so he can put out fires. There’s a hope it’s going to be OK, by being honest and straight, at some point in the immediate future or in ten years time. He’s broken the foundation of everything that he has built, in order to restore and refurbish and recreate a future…He’s a brave bloke.
