@fucking-shit-shit
Soooo….I’m trying to watch this amazing Russian soap opera that stars ridiculously good looking people and takes place during the 19th century…
But it’s 127 episodes, in another language, there are no dvds (no DVDs to found anywhere, how is that even possible?) and I can only watch it on Viki where quality is either good or meh, or youtube where they may or may not be subtitles.
And if you’re wondering why I’m so desperate to watch this obscure Russian serial, its’ because the lead guy looks like this:
So yeah. Yeah.
Hey everyone, it’s Kriss (lunelis), one of the admins here at princesses-unite.
On the page I’m managing a recommended book and movie that I plan to change about once a month and I wanted to make a post about a TV show that I really enjoy and that I know isn’t very popular. I think many of you will find it just as enjoyable as I do (especially if you’re into 19th century things!).
It’s called Poor Nastya (Бедная Настя, Bednaya Nastya)
It’s a Russian TV series that aired in 2003-2004 and it’s set in 19th century Imperial Russia. It follows a variety of stories; like a serf girl, a baron, a prince, the heir to the throne, various aristocrats and nobility. I love the costumes and I think the Imperial Russian setting is really fascinating and different from more typical settings (such as the United States or England or France).
I’m not very certain of its historical accuracy, but I’ve watched all 127 episodes several times and I quite like it! Hopefully some of you will enjoy it as well! It has drama, mystery, romance, a little action, and focuses on enough people and story to make all 127 episodes worth watching.
You can find the show translated into English and a few other other languages on viki! >here< and you can also find some episodes subtitled on YouTube.
It’d be great if some of the talented GIF makers on tumblr made more from Poor Nastya! I think the costumes are beautiful and many of the actors and actresses fit their roles perfectly. I’ve always loved Natalie’s costumes and Anna’s hair is always done in such beautiful, elegant styles!
Anyway, I just wanted to share this with you all! Thanks for reading!
