[ Larissa smiled softly when Ruby didn’t pull away from her hand–it was comforting in a way. As they continued to walk, Larissa found herself getting closer and closer to the girl as she spoke. ]Â
I didn’t mean to worry you, and I’m sorry. I just–I’ve been in this mood lately and I didn’t want to do anything that would cause me to lose you, so I was playing it safe and staying away. But now that I’m with you again, I realize how much of a fucking idiot I was to even stay away from you in the first place, because we haven’t even been together for five minutes and I’m already the happiest I’ve been in weeks..
[Ruby looked at her a little sadly. She was fairly certain that Larissa couldn’t push her away. She’d already accepted that she was in it with this girl.]
I understand. I almost did the same thing.
[She paused, debating whether or not she should say it. The words came out of her mouth before she could think too much.]
I lost my brother. When they took us away, he got adopted right off the bat. I didn’t. They don’t let me see him anymore. After that, I said no more attachments. No more risking doing stupid shit and then losing someone for him. But then you came along. I get it, trust me. But even if you’re going to do something stupid eventually, you have to trust that the other person likes you enough to work through it. You know what I mean?
