I just read about your future endeavors. Congrats! I would love to find out more about the Peace Corp... like how to be an ideal candidate for an invite.. and all that lol. I've wanted to volunteer out the country for as long as I can remember. I'm hoping to after I get my MPA. ☺️☺️ (slick feel like this is a sign I'm on the right path)

Sounds awesome. I believe the reason why I was chosen was because of the work I had done leading up to that point; everything I had done in the previous 4 years had been building up to this moment.

 Keep in mind my whole life has kinda been surrounded by service because of school. I started out my freshman year of university in a club for global health equity, meaning health for all, wherever you are. I quit that and became the service chair for my fraternity my sophomore year, and raked up 1000 hours for 50-odd members for that school year. That spring semester I applied and was accepted into an honors service fraternity for men. My junior year I was on the homecoming committee and studied abroad in New Zealand where I hope to return after grad school. My senior year I was a Campus Ambassador for the Peace Corps, so that was kinda my power play I guess. 

So you see in order to get to where I’m at I had to start small and work my way up. Get your reputation for service up domestically, and the doors will open for you :)

How does the whole process of joining and getting assigned in the peace corps work? I've been interested for awhile in joining but I'm curious about what the process is actually like

So you go onto peacecorps.gov and apply. It takes around an hour to do so if you've already written your essay as to why you'd be a good candidate blah blah blah.

 I waited around a month to get interviewed via Skype, then another month and a half to find out I had been accepted. 

They used to just send you wherever they needed you but now the application allows you to pick preferred areas. My top 3 I selected were: "I'll go anywhere", "Guyana", and "Nepal". So they're sending me to Senegal, where I'll be an Agriculture Specialist, working with the Ministry of Agriculture in a remote village for 27 months. 

You should essentially plan on applying 9 months before you want to depart. Keep in mind that they are very strict on medical conditions, so if you have anything you think would hold you back, I’d email them.

Disney Unveils First-Look at Han Solo Movie In Cast Photo

“The spinoff takes place before the events of 1977’s Star Wars: A New Hope and stars Alden Ehrenreich, as Han Solo, Donald Glover as a young Lando Calrissian, as well as and Emilia Clarke, Woody Harrelson in a mentor role and Phoebe Waller-Bridge. Donald Glover to play Simba in ‘Lion King’ live-action remake

“The “Atlanta” star is in talk to play Simba in Disney’s live-action “The Lion King” remake directed by Jon Favreau, Variety has confirmed.

Favreau tweeted a photo of Glover with the message “I just can’t wait to be king. #Simba””
