I really hate to do this, but desperate times call for desperate measures…
Our Doberman Cooper needs a very, very expensive neuter surgery. I lost my job in November 2014 and am still unemployed, making ends meet with food stamps, MediCal and a crappy $9/hr restaurant job that I’m lucky if I work more than 15 hours a week at.
Cooper has Cryptorchidism – or an undescended testicle – and Von Willebrand’s disease, a condition common in Dobermans. Von Willebrand’s is similar to hemophilia in humans, and a complicated surgery like the one required to neuter a dog with cryptorchidism is extremely dangerous. There are great low-cost neuter programs in Los Angeles where we live, but Cooper does not qualify for these because of the complicated nature of the cryptorchidism surgery and his risk of bleeding out. The only option is to have the surgery at an animal surgery center – which is extremely expensive and beyond the scope of what we can currently afford. Animal Specialty Group has quoted this surgery running from $1500-$3700.
If you can help, we’ve set up a fundraiser page. We’ll provide all documentation of the neuter once it happens. If you can’t help financially, you can help by reblogging and sharing. We love this little dude, and we want him to be as healthy as possible.
