Behind the scenes of the Hive set from Aliens.
The original logo for "Weylan-Yutani" in Alien.
The Weyland-Yutani Corporation was formed when Weyland Corp absorbed the Yutani Corporation in a hostile takeover in 2099.Following the merger, Weyland-Yutani opened with the largest share value ever recorded on the Systems Exchange. The company would go on to buy out numerous other businesses, investing in almost every sector, and had a controlling stake in a vast number of diverse corporations. According to some, Weyland-Yutani owned "pretty much everything" by the 2150s.Many of the companies wholly or partly owned by Weyland-Yutani continued to operate under their own brand, such as the Kelland Mining Company.
The company's original name was Weylan-Yutani, briefly seen on a monitor and Aspen Beer can in the film Alien; this name was created by Ron Cobb, one of the designers of the Nostromo and its crew's uniforms. In the film, the company's logo consisted of a winged sun emblem, based on Egyptian architecture. The original Weylan-Yutani name was also used by James Cameron in his initial treatment for a sequel to Alien, and later reappeared in David Twohy's unproduced script for Alien3.
Dean was one of the two specialized synthetic model that was developed by the Grant Corporation, the other one being Jeri. While Jeri was created to infiltrate and observe the company's owned Xenomorph Hive population, Dean was created to neutralize and control the Hive's population in case it gets out of control.
Abilities: Dean is protected with a three-ton titanium exoskeleton, fully covered in armor and a neutra-gel lined outer skin, rendering him almost indestructible. Designed to be a heavily-armed synthetic, Dean is equipped with a plasma rifle of obscene concussive force with an almost inexhaustible energy supply. Among Dean's other arsenals are heavy artillery, such as thermite grenades and flame throwers.

XL1, nicknamed "Norbert" by his creator, was the first synthetic replica of a Xenomorph made by Dr. Mayakovsky.
Norbert was created as part of a plot between Mayakovsky and the thief Gil to infiltrate a Xenomorph hive on a Grant Corporation-held hive world some time after the corporation's first mission to the Xenomorph homeworld.
A Ravager Xenomorph is a morphological mutation purposefully bred only in a state of war between the hive and the host species. These massive beasts are evolved from the Praetorians, and more purebred compared to other subspecies.
The creatures grow diamond-sharp blades in place of digits, capable of slicing enemies apart in several blows, and also capable of slicing through the titanium armor plating of spaceships.
The one drawback of this caste is that Ravagers are built to instinctively decapitate their foes, preventing them from being harvested by Facehuggers.
Their chitinous armor stops all but the heaviest caliber bullets. More advanced breeds of Ravager, when heavily wounded, can enter a healing state where they recover until they are capable of fighting once more. This state is called Regenesis.
