You could walk the entirety of this 2,500 kilometer-long line that stretches halfway cross Canada without seeing virtually any signs of humanity such as roads, towns or settlements.
Liberal MP, Randy Boissonnault the LGBTQ special advisor to Justin Trudeau, speaks in favour of Bill C-16 (âThe Transgender rights billâ).
The bill passed in the house of commons today. If it passes in the senate it will become law.
Great speech.
Couple of question about Canadian political procedure: Does the bill move to the Senate where they have to pass it multiple times like in the House of Commons or does it only need to pass once now? Then does it have to be signed by the Prime Minister or does it automatically become law?Â
Also a bonus questions: Do you have to speak French as well as English, to be in Parliament or is that just something he does, sorry this was my first time watching Canadian Parliamentary proceedings.Â
Yes, once it enters the Senate it has to pass 1st, 2nd and 3rd reading (as well as a committee stage). Right now its passed the committee and all 3 readings in the House of Commons, but it has to do the same thing all over again in the senate.
Its not required for MPâs to be bilingual, but I would say that it is encouraged.
Leaders of a political party are usually bilingual, same with those in positions of power like cabinet ministers. Which makes sense because you realistically canât be elected PM without winning the support of francophone voters, or without conversing with francophone MPâs. But there is no rule saying that anyone has to be bilingual.

SO a Canadian choir of 500 students sing an Arabic song called Tala Al-Badr to welcome Syrian refugees into Canada, which was the same song that was sung to welcome Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) when he came to Madina
MY HEART IS EXPLODING IâM SO PROUD TO BE A CANADIAN RIGHT NOW I ACTUALLY CANâT
LIKE THIS HAS RESTORED MY FAITH IN HUMANITY SO MUCH IâM SPEECHLESS
this is the most beautiful thing Iâve ever seen.
Iâm in tears. So freaking proud to be a Canadian right now.
