Daniel Johnston.
This performance both warms and breaks my heart.
You could smile now and put an happy ending to my song

A troubled soul with a talent for writing honest, disarmingly direct songs, Johnston performs in the NPR Music offices. His short set closes with one of his classics: “True Love Will Find You in the End.” Set List: “Mean Girls Give Pleasure” “American Dream” “True Love Will Find You In The End”

Daniel Johnston - I’ll Do Anything But Break Dance For Ya, Darling
bigdavedavenport:
Thanks to tumblr, I just checked out the Wikipedia article on carny slang, and found out that “donniker” is carny slang for a toilet. In this song Daniel Johnston says:
I just stepped out of the donniker, I don’t know where I am and I can’t remember
And now that line makes so much more sense because Daniel Johnston was a carny, and was also once beaten unconscious after stepping out of a port-a-potty.
So, I just wanted to say thank you to Tumblr for teaching me new things, and also to Daniel Johnston for being incredible.
