New year, new Easter post
It’s that time of year again!
I may not post often, but I will always post this
How sick it would be if you guys got the band together again, is that possible
This isn’t a member of production, but last I heard they were working towards putting together a season 4 but COVID, as with everything, has halted that a bit.

Hi everyone!
Hope everyone is staying safe and healthy and distanced. Heading into the 7th month of working from home, a summer of non-travel (first in 6+ years), and colder weather hitting is making me revisit some old and new favourites.
Departures is sadly no longer on Netflix but that doesn’t mean I can’t listen to the soundtracks on Spotify while I work.
Netflix’s World Most Extraordinary Homes hits that travel bug + HDTV obsession.
Long Way Up (of the Long Way Round/Down variety) was released a few weeks back on Apple+ Charlie and Ewan head from the southern tip of South America up to LA. While I wait for weekly episodes, I have been watching the last two seasons which are also on Apple+.
I’m also about to start to read Lone Rider by Elspeth Beard.
Anyone else have any favs? On behalf of the rest of the world, please travel digitally this year!
Trailer for Scott’s new mini-series, Into the Rising Sun, about his motorcycle travels throughout Japan.
Available on Amazon Prime now!
Happy Easter everyone!
Logged in to do a classic post and realized it was the last post I had done a year ago.
Happy Easter everyone!
I haven’t logged in in awhile and um.... okay tumblr. Is it the sleepy Justin that’s offensive or your inability to differentiate between a nipple and a coat hook on an airplane seat?
I just started this show bout two weeks ago and I've finished the first two seasons, but something is still bothering me. They've gone to all these different places, and we see a lot of places with two beds. Which begs the question: if Justin and Scott are sleeping in those beds, where does poor Andre sleep? I worry for the beloved cinematographer.
First off, welcome new viewer!
Secondly, valid concern. I just assumed in those cases they had two rooms and Andre got the second room. Throughout the commentaries on the DVDs, you hear that after the day of filming they’d have to upload all their footage and Andre would also do some quick edits/notes to send back to the producers so I imagine he’d get the second room in order to not keep Scott/Justin awake (though they said they also help with the uploading and such too).
Enjoy season 3!
Happy Easter everyone!

Decided to start reblogging some of my favourite (and yours by reblog/like numbers) posts from the last few years. I’ve been rewatching the series (and Descending) to get inspired so if anyone has any requests, let me know! The show premiered 10 years ago this February so it’s good to acknowledge that with our favourite moments.
Some of mine? The view so beautifully captured by Andre
WELCOME TO THE DEPARTURES YOUTUBE CHANNEL Over the last decade we have traveled to nearly 90 countries and explored the depths of the Oceans in order to capt...
If you don’t have Netflix, or the DVDs, Departures can now be watched on their YouTube channel for a limited period of time! (though I would suggest buying the BluRays or DVDs regardless for the deleted scenes and commentaries!)
“Thanks for all the support over these 10 years! https://t.co/ykTozeh6wE”
I’ve been doing a bit of a rewatch over the last few weeks to get some inspiration back into my life. Listening to the commentaries throws me every time they talk about it being 2008/9/10 since that doesn’t seem possible that much time has passed.
If you’re in the Toronto area, check out this event to connect with other fans and share in the nostalgia, memories, and travel enthusiasm.
(I was debating how to best format this post but figured Andre’s big mug would get all of your attention the easiest)
