The 1952 Cadillac that Hank Williams passed away in.
Charles Carr drove the Cadillac to the emergency room entrance where two orderlies picked Hank up by the armpits and feet and carried him into Oak Hill Hospital Emergency Room. Hank was pronounced death at 7:00am January 1, 1953 by Dr. Diego Nunnari. The doctor concluded Hank had probably died some six hours earlier, but he could not determine the time of death with any certainty. Hanks body was then taken across the street to the Tyree Funeral Home where an autopsy was performed. Dr. Iven Malinin who performed the autopsy was a Russian intern who spoke almost no English.
His report noted needle marks in Williamsâ arms, bruises on various parts of the body, a welt on his forehead and hemorrhages in the heart and neck. The official cause of death was attributed to acute right ventricular dialation, an unusual conclusion, meaning that his heart just stopped beating. Traces of alcohol but no drugs were found in his blood, probably because he was asked not to look for them.
What an awesome photo of Hank Williams & The Drifting Cowboys Band. Before I found this, I had never seen this before.
His son Hank Williams, Jr., daughter Jett Williams, grandson Hank Williams III, and granddaughters Hilary Williams and Holly Williams are also musicians. Rumors are that Parham Henry Williams IV is Hank IIIâs son out of wedlock, who is also following in Hank Williamsâ footsteps.
Fans pay last respects to Hiram Hank Williams.
Audrey Williams & Hank Williams.
Audrey was said to be the driving force behind Hank Williamsâ success because of her cut-throat business skills, business management and booking. However, I think she was more a contributor to his success because of her whoreish ways and her inability to love Hank as much as he loved her.
If it wasnât for her whoreish, cunty ways we may have never heard âCold, Cold Heartâ or âYour Cheating Heartâ.
Hank married Audrey in 1944 and was divorced in 1952. Hank told her that âhe would not live another year without herâ if she left him. Hank died nine months later from heart failure due to drug abuse (pain killers for spina bifida) at age 29.
After Hankâs death Audrey turned to her son Randall Hank Williams, Jr to replace the income missed by Hankâs death. She dressed Hank Williams, Jr. up like his father and made him sing his songs to sold out auditoriums. People said that Audrey also dominated the life of Hank, Jr. which lead to their estrangement after Hank, Jr. turned 18 and decided to go his own way and do his own style of music.
Audrey died in 1975 bankrupt and addicted to alcohol an drugs.
Hank Williams playing his Martin D-28 to Hank Jr in 1949. Hank Williams Jr later sold the guitar to a friend for some shotguns. A few owners later Neil Young tracked the guitar down and heâs now owned it for more than 30 years.
âIâve got a Hank Williamsâ guitar, but I play it all the time. Itâs an old Martin D-28. I bought it from Tut Taylor. Itâs always great when someone understands what this is that theyâre holding, who understands the effect Hank Williams had on all of us. They are sort of awestruck by being in the presence of anything that he touched - to the point that to actually play his instrument elevates them to another level. Itâs a wonderful thing to have a guitar for that reason. A lot of people who should have played it, have played it. Iâm careful about it, but I use it all the time. Itâs not on a wall in a museum.â
