The best urn so far.
It is inspired by the heptagon, a seven sided polygon.
I heard a radio interview awhile back with someone talking about Stevie Wonder’s song “Superstition”. They said one of the reasons that the song is so intriguing is that the time signature of the song is 7/8. It is a novel beat structure to our western ears. The radio piece was too long ago for me to actually remember much of the interview and I question my memory’s accuracy at this point. (I did do some internet research and couldn’t verify that “Superstition” is actually in 7/8 time, and not being a musician I can’t verify it myself.) None the less the notion stuck with me. Somehow the idea of working with a 7 sided polygon popped into my head and this is where I landed. The shape feels novel to me since its not a hexagon and its not an octagon.
More to come.
