What is Slava Malamud's problem, and how can we get him to go away?

I blocked Slava years ago, and it was one of the best decisions of my life. (No, that’s a lie, I unblocked him in 2018 so I could bask in his utter rage when the Caps won the Cup, and then I went back to ignoring his existence.) I genuinely have no interest in his opinions, and don’t think he has any journalistic integrity or objectivity to stand on. You kinda lose your moral high ground (as a journalist for sure, but also as a normal person) when you bring out the death wishes.

If you’re asking for the fandom history, I think Malamud started his personal feud with Ovechkin way back in like... 2011 or 2012ish? Can’t remember the exact year. As I vaguely recall, he repeatedly asked Ovechkin politically-focused questions during post-game pressers and interviews, despite being asked not to, and he eventually had his press pass and accreditation revoked by the Capitals. Malamud claims this was done specifically at Ovechkin’s behest.

Since then he’s gone from having legitimate criticisms of Ovechkin and his politics to basically spewing irrational hatred towards anything related to Washington DC, Capitals, Ovechkin, Leonsis, etc. and prior to 2018, gloated repeatedly about how Ovechkin would never win the Cup and was a failure, including the aforementioned “if he dies tomorrow the world would be a better place” statement. He’s flat out admitted he’s incapable of being objective about him. I’m not sure why he’s so personally narrowed in on Ovechkin when there are others who come under the same sphere of criticism, but I assume it’s personal due to the press thing.

There are far more objective and educational perspectives/sources on Russian politics and how they interact with sports out there than him, but that’s just my opinion. That being said, I think I can freely admit to also not being able to be really objective about him. He’s probably said some valid things over time, but he’s said a lot of shitty things, and I’ve just tuned him out and don’t have any desire to change that.
