Unseen Darcy Lewis picture !

Kat Dennings: I heard later after I got the role, it was supposed to be a guy... so there was really just a freedom there, because she just didn’t exist. So she was born out of a really extensive rehearsal process before we started filming the first movie. There wasn’t much on the page for the Darcy role to begin with, and I didn’t even see a script before I took the job so I didn’t really know who Darcy was at first. But she really evolved — she’s so much fun now even.

Q:  She takes everything with a grain of salt, like nothing seems to surprise or shock her. What was your audition like for the first “Thor”?

Kat Dennings: My final audition for the part was sitting at a desk at Marvel with Craig Kyle and Kenneth Branagh and some of the executives in the room. They put a camera on me but they didn’t tell me they were doing it. They had me sit behind the desk and then behind the camera they all started fighting each other and throwing things. 

They were taping my reaction to that fake fight, which was, in retrospect, genius. But at the time I was like, “What is up with these people? What is going on? Is this how it works? Is this what Marvel does to actors?” That was my audition, so the fact that it’s gotten this far is amazing!

I’ve played every instrument you could possibly think of for 10 minutes. So I’m mediocre at everything. I can play drums, guitar, piano, violin, saxophone, clarinet, flute. Just not well.
