Hereās a cool song I wrote in Houston a couple months back. Itās called Blackout and itās about how I was feeling living in LAĀ - really sad and I just wanted to numb it all by getting blackout wasted. Njoy

Iām feeling very colorful today yāall. Itās been a good few weeks for me. I am so so sorry that I havenāt been posting as often. Been in the studio for the most part. I had 2 songs come out recently if you didnāt know already, and Iām very happy with that. But it does suck that I havenāt had much time to blog.
So for the look - I recently thrifted this cool denim shirt. I always love the denim look, itās just classic Americana, and the polka dots add a quirky little twist. I chose to go sans pants as I like to do often. I just think a long shirt with no pants is such a sexy and daring choice. I paired the look with a pair of Jeffrey Campbell Sandals (Party 2). And topping it off with a pair of basic black shades that you can find literally anywhere - Iām pretty sure these ones came from the gas station.
I will definitely be updating more frequently this month. I have a lot of cool new stuff to post to TheBirdHaus as well so stay tuned for that. I will be traveling to Paris for the month of September and I am so so excited to finally get a stamp in my passport. I will do my best to let you guys know how this all goes.
Hi Iām Dottie
Itās been way too long for me, but iām backā¦..itās been a long busy summer so far and Iām loving every minute of it, but it is definitely time for me to put some of my focus back into you guys. Love ya. Please go and HYPE up this look on Lookbook : )
Like I promised, I will be online all week. Yay for you lol. So today Iām channeling the 70s with my Vintage Striped Bell Bottoms that are currently for sale in TheBirdHaus.
Iāve always had a bit of an obsession with 70s culture, hence my love of platforms and afros. So bell bottoms are right up my alley, and this particular pair is just to die for. Iāll definitely be sad to see them go but hey, cāest la vie!!
Styled the pants with a Vintage 80s Michael Jackson Tee (this will prob make the store soon as well) and some basic black platforms. Accessorized with a hipster type hat and a couple of chokers and voila you have a complete look!! : )
What do you think of the styling today?

Hi guys!! Yes itās been way too long since my last movie post but I promise I have not forgotten.
Coming at you today with one of my very favorite films of all time. I really feel like this is one of the most underrated of all time, it is smart, extremely imaginative, emotional, adventurous, and visually stunning (even for 2015), this isĀ āWhat Dreams May Comeā from 1998 starring Robin Williams.
I may be taking you into a darker direction here, but this is just one of those films that I genuinely relate to. Now this is no childrenās film, even though they marketed it as such in the 90s - that was a dumb idea, because there is so much more depth to this. A brief plot summary here: A man and woman fall in love. Get married. Have 2 children. Children are then killed in car accident. Wife has breakdown. Husband dies in another crash and then has to search the afterlife for his family. Deep, right?
As you know I deal with bipolar and depression. One of my very close friends committed suicide last year, and regrettably, I have attempted it more than once, even being hospitalized as a result. What you guys may not know is that through all of this, I have been in a serious relationship, and he is always afraid for me, for us. He brought up this movie to me last month in relation to us and how far he would go to be with me. It really hit home because I find my mind often drifting to this story and wondering if something like this could actually be true. Itās a really morbid thought once you know the whole story, but it is also one of big love that can not be broken, even in death. Honestly I cry like a baby every time I watch this one. No fashion inspiration in this one, but maybe itās one of those pictures thatāll give you a bit more insight into who I am and what speaks to me.
So back to the film, I personally think that this is one of Robin Williams best films.Ā He is such an amazing actor who always seems to be at home and so natural in these fantastic imaginary worlds (Jumanji, Toys, The Adventures of Baron Munchausen), making you really believe that the situations could be entirely plausible; and his particular performance here was heartbreakingly effective. The story is incredibly original in its exploration of the afterlife and it āshows how movies can imagine the unknown, [and] can lead our imaginations into wonderful placesā (ebert).Ā

The shoes are Jeffrey Campbell āTheronā ā- very punk
Not so many accessories today, thereās a lot going on here already. So I just wore a vintage imported Afghani necklace. Itās so nice and I actually love the weight of itā¦.is that weird to say?
Honestly all my peeps keep cancelling on me for the last couple weeks. I get all dressed up like this and then at the last minute I have no place to go. Oh woe is me lol. I need to make some new friends dude. I just love having people around, it keeps me out of my own head. Sometimes I think too much and assume people donāt like me when it was never that way. #issues. Help me Lawd!!

I havenāt forgotten about my monthly movie post!!
For April, Iāve chosen one of the greatest films (well, in my opinion)ā¦.āAll About Eve,ā from 1950, starring Bette Davis and Anne Baxter.
āPraised by critics at the time of its release, All About Eve was nominated for 14 Academy Awards (a feat unmatched until the 1997 film Titanic) and won six, including Best Picture. As of 2014, All About Eve is still the only film in Oscar history to receive four female acting nominations (Davis and Baxter as Best Actress, Celeste Holm and Thelma Ritter as Best Supporting Actress).ā - - -taken from Wikipedia
I really love how Rotten Tomatoes opens itās summary with⦠āAll About Eve is an elegantly bitchy backstage story revolving around aspiring actress Eve Harrington (Baxter)ā. An extremely accurate description without giving too much away. I donāt really want to tell you what happens in the picture, because itās just too good for you not to experience it yourself.
One of the most profound āmean girlā movies Iāve ever seen, the flip-moment is spectacular. A sad story about a womanās aging, the effect it can have on a successful career, and the perspective we have toward ourselves. Depressed by her 40th birthday, Margo Channing (Davis) says that admitting her age makes her āfeel as if Iāve taken all my clothes off.ā She looks at Bill and bitterly says: āBillās 32. He looks 32. He looked it five years ago. Heāll look it 20 years from now. I hate men.ā
We all know how much shit we give mature actresses for their withering looks and diva dispositions. But is it really fair to them? I think not. Why are they not allowed to grow older and wiser, or to know exactly what they want and settle for nothing less? Why are we so obsessed and preoccupied with the virginal, naive, adolescent types who have not experienced very many life changing events. In my opinion, thereās not much to learn from them, not very much depth, and I personally donāt always understand the appeal. Well, you get to see Marilyn Monroe in a small cameo, sort of portraying just this character: the young sexpot that she is so well known for, lol; but she always manages to steal the screen no matter how small or insignificant her role may seemā¦a true star.
One of my favorite moments in the film is in the broken down car scene when Margo gets very introspective about her own success, not as an actress, but as a woman. Itās a very dark part, for me at least, because in some way I relate to thisā¦.in her epic monologue, she states, āThatās one career all females have in common, whether we like it or not: being a woman. Sooner or later, weāve got to work at it, no matter how many other careers weāve had or wanted. And in the last analysis, nothingās any good unless you can look up just before dinner or turn around in bed, and there he is. Without that, youāre not a woman.ā Likeā¦damn.
You sort of develop a love-hate relationship with all of the main charactersā¦.itās very taxing emotionally lol. The acting of course is top notch. With the legendary Bette Davis giving a sharp, yet heartfelt (at times) performanceā¦.honestly she steals the show - and thatās as it should be.Ā
You can find the movie on Netflix if youāve got an account or watch here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dmga-_c2sCI for a small amount -___-
In honor of Coachella first weekend this year, I dressed up to lend my spirit to the cause. Alas, Iāve still never been, but itās probably for the bestā¦.I get anxiety around big crowds of strangers. So my day wasnāt quite as cool as you festival goers (I envy you), but it was still a good day. Went out to eat with friends, stuffed my face with some five guys. Better eating doesnāt start until Monday :P Then we went to see the new Fast & Furious movie. It was awesomely, satisfyingly bad. I was thoroughly entertained. Headed out for dinner nowā¦.bonsoir.
Dress: Forever21 believe it or not! Love this dress, but itās way too long for my stubby little frame, so I pinned it up on one side, which is what gives it the drape-y effect.
Bag: lamodatakeoverā one of my favorite bags in my closet.
Hat: Vintage
Maybe next year Iāll make it out, in the meantime Iāll light one up for all the homies that couldnāt go.
another oldie from the CIS catalog (just a demo mind youā¦hence the long outro)ā¦.remember these are secrets between you and me
