Thor #185 February 1971 "In the Grip of Infinity!"
Writer: Stan Lee Artist: John Buscema Inker: Sam Grainger Letters: Sam Rosen
Synopsis:
With Odin in peril in the World Beyond, Thor decides to abandon his post guarding Asgard to venture into the realm itself and rescue his father. As he travels into the void of the World Beyond he reflects back on the events that led him to this point.
Arriving in this mystical realm, Thor is confronted by it's guardian, a strange four armed creature with strength and magical abilities that rival that of Thor's. As Thor battles on, he soon finds himself over powered by the creature, however before defeat can be had, Thor demands to know who Infinity is. This rouses Infinity, which appears a massive black void in the shape of a hand. Feeling it's guardian had failed in it's appointed task, it strikes the creature dead and then shows Thor it's incalculable power by consuming another world from Thor's universe before disappearing again.
Venturing further, Thor spots the Silent One standing on a misty cliff, and rushes toward the him demanding answers. Like before, Thor is unable to cause the Silent One any harm, and the Silent One imparts no answers at all. The Silent One shows Thor yet another world being consumed by Infinity. Thor watches helplessly as the world is consumed and brought into the World Beyond, and it's people are put into Infinitiy's thrall. The Silent One then brings Thor to the Warriors Three, who have also been put under Infinity's spell. The Warriors Three attack Thor, however the Thunder God easily over powers them and then transports them back to Asgard.
There, Sif and the Grand Vizier watch over the Odinsword, which continues it's slow progression out of it's scabbard, which would signal the end of the universe. While back in the World Beyond, Odin continues his battle against Infinity, while the Silent One watches on. The resulting backlash is also causing unstable weather conditions on the Earth and across the universe.
The upheaval eventually knocks Thor around in a giant wind, and he is eventually knocked unconscious. When he revives he finds that he has been knocked away from his hammer for more than 60 seconds and has reverted back into the form of Donald Blake. To make matters worse, the Guardian is suddenly resurrected who spots Blake and inches forward intending to make him his next victim.

Thor #184 January 1971 "The World Beyond!"
Writer: Stan Lee Artist: John Buscema Inker: Joe Sinnott Letters: Artie Simek
Synopsis:
Thor returns to Asgard from Earth so that he might travel into the World Beyond for his father Odin, however he finds that he may have arrived too late. Thor rushes into the throne room to find Odin in utter despair. When Thor inquires about what's wrong, Odin has his Grand Vizier activate the Coals of the Cosmos to show him the World Beyond, and how it is growing rapidly, consuming the known universe as it grows. Odin explains that he sent the Warriors Three into the World Beyond and they failed to stop it. Odin also shows Thor that some of their old foes: Galactus, Mangog, and Loki are not responsible for this cataclysmic event either. To make matter worse, whatever is causing the event is also causing the Odinsword to slowly pull out of it's scabbard.
Finally, Odin explains that his mind is plagued by one word, the name of the being which rules the World Beyond: Infinity. When Thor notices a stranger in the chamber, Odin identifies him as "The Silent One" and that the Silent One has been allowed audience before Odin due to the fact that Odin believes that the Silent One holds the key to defeating Infinity. Thor attempts to get answers by force, but finds that he is unable to harm the Silent One.
Finally, Odin decides that he will venture into the World Beyond to seek answers. When Thor tries to convince Odin to let him go in his stead, Odin declines ordering Thor to remain in Asgard and protect the realm from anyone who might capitalize on Odin's absence. As Odin teleports on, the Silent One joins Odin and the two disappear to the World Beyond, leaving Thor to worry about his fathers fate, and that of the universe.
While elsewhere, in a realm for which he has been banished following his last battle with Thor, Loki notices Odin's departure from the realm and decides to usurp the throne once more. Teleporting to the land of the Frost Giants, Loki tells his brethren of Odin's departure and rallies them to attack Asgard.
When the Giants attack Asgard, they take Balder prisoner and Thor rushes into battle to save his friend. He is aided by the Lady Sif, however she is soon overwhelmed and Thor is forced to rescue her. Returning to battle, Thor also saves Balder, and sending the Storm Giants into retreat.
Returning to the palace, Thor and Sif have a brief romantic interlude, but they are interrupted when an astral image of Odin appears. It's an image of Odin in the World Beyond, and he has confronted Infinity, but it turns out that Infinity is too strong for Odin to battle. Before the outcome of the battle can be revealed the image disappears.
Fearing for his fathers fate, Thor realizes that he has no other choice but to venture into the World Beyond. This story is continued next issue...
Thor #183 December 1970 "Trapped in Doomsland!"
Writer: Stan Lee Artist: John Buscema Inker: Joe Sinnott Letters: Artie Simek
Continued from last issue...
Thor is in Latveria with a missile on his tail that threatens to not only destroy him, but a village full of innocent people below him as well. However, Thor comes up with a solution: Using his hammer to create a vortex, Thor throws it high into the sky, causing it to suck the missile out of harms way. However, without his hammer, Thor slams into the ground and watches as the missile explodes harmlessly.
When his hammer doesn't come back, Thor must find it, but the 60 second limit he can spend away from his hammer elapses and he changes back into Donald Blake. Meanwhile, Dr. Doom has tracked the location of Thor's hammer, but when he is unable to lift or destroy it, he instead encases it in a force field and puts guards on watch to destroy anyone who might come for it. Turning his attentions to the missing Donald Blake (and not having made a connection between Blake and Thor) he also unleashes a silent stalker robot to hunt him down.
While in far off Asgard, Odin, Sif and Balder watch on Thor's progress. However, Odin is confident that his son will be able to overcome this challenge and defeat Dr. Doom, however Sif cannot help but being upset and fear for the worst.
Back in Latveria, Donald Blake has found the lab of Professor Lafarge, hoping that the professor can help him find his hammer. However, he finds that Lafarge is a paranoid who thinks that Blake is only a test by Doom to check on his prisoners loyalty. Finding the situation hopeless, Blake leaves and decides to go looking for his hammer on his own. Blake does indeed find it, and the force field around it. He then begins digging a hole, but abandons it when he hears foot steps and finds a hiding spot.
When Doom's soldiers find Blake's jacket in the hole they assume that he is in there and fire their ray blasters into the hole and depart when they are satisfied that Blake is dead. Blake comes out of his hiding spot and finds that the guards had achieved what he had hopped: namely, blasting deep enough into the ground for Blake to dig under where his hammer is trapped and freeing it. Regaining his hammer, he is transformed back into Thor and is praised by Odin for proving worthy during this trying challenge.
Thor then charges to Doom's castle where he fights the Latverian monarch one-on-one. Thor almost loses the fight when Doom manages to knock away his hammer and the 60 second limit almost passes, however Thor manages to regain his hammer at the last minute and fight off Doom. With Doom staggered, Thor flies off to the site of all Doom's specially built missiles and destroys them. With the threat of Doom over for now, Odin calls Thor to come back to Asgard to travel to the World Beyond.
However, before he goes, Thor returns to Professor Lafarge's lab to tie up loose ends. Instead of rescuing Lafarge for his daughter Cossette, he finds that Lafarge wasn't forced to create the weapons -- that he did so willingly for money. The crazed professor then turns a gun on Thor. Thor uses his hammer to block the bullets, however one of the shots ricochets back and hits the professor, who's dying words curse his daughter for sending Thor. Thor then leaves Latveria, with Doom calling him a coward.
Thor returns to New York where he tells Cossette that he father had died. Instead of tarnishing the girls memories of her father, he misleads her into thinking that he died fighting the tyranny of Dr. Doom, without lying:
He didst perish while Fighting-- for that which he Believed! and the final words he Spoke were of Thee!
— Thor
With his mission complete Thor returns to Asgard to travel into the World Beyond.
Kid Loki
During Dark Reign, Loki took control of his original body once again and continued to pull strings as a member of the evil Cabal. His schemes lead to the battle between Avengers and Asgardians in Siege. However, after The Void began tearing apart the Avengers, Loki realized he had gone too far and wound up sacrificing himself in an attempt to make amends. Thor helped resurrect his brother, who now inhabits the form of a young boy as a way to learn more about humanity. This new version continues to use green as the base for his costume, but downplays both the horns and the yellow elements. His new outfit includes a more tailored jacket that looks like something you'd wear for Norse prom.

Lady Loki
The lord of mischief sported his classic appearance when the Norse gods met their temporary end in Ragnarok, but came back looking very different. In fact, Loki's spirit infected the body of Sif, Thor’s lover, making thing very awkward for the siblings. As a member of the fairer sex, Loki pulled off a slightly different look, keeping the colors, but showing more skin. Lady Loki also wore a fur and more dramatic horns, but none of that could hide her true nature.

Battle Armor
Loki really mixed things up in 1975's THOR #234 when he met his brother on the battlefield. He kept the green and yellow color scheme, but traded the emerald body suit for chainmail and the curvy horns for a more Thor-like helmet; you don't want to get maced in the face because your horns get caught on a fellow warrior's cape.

Classic
When you think of Loki, you probably think of the iconic green body suit with yellow horned helmet, boots and scales protecting his chest. Sure he's altered his appearance to fool people—he’s a trickster god after all—and even changed his look, sex and age, a few times, but for the most part, Loki likes his classic duds.

Thor #182 November 1970 "The Prisoner, The Power and Dr. Doom!"
Writer: Stan Lee Artist: John Buscema, John Romita Inker: Joe Sinnott Letters: Artie Simek
Synopsis:
Thor is patrolling the city when he happens upon a young girl protesting Latverian oppression outside the Latverian embassy. The protest ends up inciting a riot between people who are for and against the young girls cause and the end result is that the girl gets injured. Thinking that this is more of a job for Donald Blake, Thor changes into his mortal guise and tries to get to the girls aid, however he finds that the mod is in too much of a frenzy and changes into Thor once more, scaring them all over.
Rushing the girl to his office, Thor once more resumes his Donald Blake guise before the girl comes around. When she does, Blake learns that the girl had been protesting for a very personal reason. She is Cosette Lafarge, a French girl who's father is great inventor named Professor Lafarge. They were kidnapped from their home and taken to Latveria.
There he was brought before it's monarch, Dr. Doom, who would use his daughters safety as a bargaining chip to force Lafarge into building new missile silos for Doom's kingdom. Her father would break down and agree to Doom's terms, and years later Cosette would be smuggled out of Latveria and she would eventually end up in the United States where she began taking up her protests.
Hearing the story, Blake agrees that something must be done about Dr. Doom and tells her that he knows someone who can help her and sees her out of his office. Blake decides to play into Doom's vanity and contacts his old colleague Harris Hobbs and has Hobbs run a story in the paper. After he finished his call, Blake is summoned to Asgard by Odin who teleports him instantly there and transforms him into Thor. Odin has brought Thor to Asgard to tell him about a place called "The World Beyond" however, Thor asks that his father grant him a moment to deal with matters on Earth first. Although Balder and Sif have their reservations about Thor traveling to this realm, the Thunder God accepts the mission. Odin then agrees to let Thor deal with matters on Earth before partaking on his next mission.
While on Earth, Dr. Doom gets wind of the false story that Blake planted in the paper: a new plastic surgery method that could potentially heal Doom's horribly scarred face. Wanting to have this performed on him, Dr. Doom orders one of his aids to drive him out of the Latverian embassy to seek out and kidnap Donald Blake. Thor meanwhile, has returned to Earth and resumed his Blake identity and is walking the streets in hopes of attracting Doom's attention. This plays out for Blake when Doom uses a molecule displacer device to transport Blake from the street corner to the inside of Doom's car where he is incapacitated. Fleeing the scene quickly, Doom and his aid drive to a secret aircraft hanger outside of town where Doom pilots a specially build plane that brings them to Latveria within hours.
When Blake revives Dr. Doom takes Blake into his banquet hall and shows him his horribly scarred face, asking the doctor to perform the plastic surgery on him so that he may be rid of his cursed scars. As part of his plan, Blake pretends to be horrified and confesses that there is nothing he can do. Furious, Doom has Blake locked in the dungeon. Although Blake is out of reach of his walking stick, he manages to get by using his shoe.
Changing into Thor once again, Blake makes his escape from the dungeon and rounds back to attack Doom's castle. Detecting Thor's approach, Doom launches a stalker missile that locks onto Thor. To Thor's horror he realizes that he has two choices: Let the missile hit him, or crash and destroy the village bellow him.
