on international women’s day don’t forget the day was started by jewish socialist women & immigrants striking against unfair labour conditions and the first marches that began the international women’s day movement were organized by socialists as well. it isn’t just some uwu solidarity good feel day, it is explicitly a day to talk about labour, to show solidarity with working class women, to strike back against capitalism, and if your women’s day organizing leaves behind women of colour, immigrants & jewish women, focuses on how women should “lean in” & acquire corporate power over others, you’re fucking up bad.
pack her a bong & tell her she’s pretty
WHAT THE FUCK?
Apparently you can be imprisoned for having a miscarriage. They clearly hate women that much.
Hey as someone very politically active who lives in Georgia, I’ve been seeing a lot of misinformation about this law.
The governor has signed it into law. It’s exactly as terrible and fascist as described above. However, women in Georgia can still get abortions, because the law will be held up in court due to vigorous legal challenges for a long time, and it’s likely to go all the way up to the Supreme Court. So the best thing you can do to stop it at this point is anything to make sure Trump doesn’t stack the court ever farther to the right than it already is.
This does not reflect the will of the people in Georgia. The current governor (Kemp) only won election last year and defeated Stacey Abrams through rampant cheating, gerrymandering and suppression of the African-American vote. This bill is HUGELY UNPOPULAR among the majority of Georgians and several recent polls have born that out.Â
General boycotts or “punishing” Georgia won’t do anything to prevent this. Any effective boycott should be targeted at the same rich white Republicans who supported this bill and rammed it through over the objections of everyone. Go after Kemp, go after the bill supporters, but any boycott that hurts regular Georgians won’t really touch them at all.
A better use of resources would be supporting organizations on the ground in Georgia who have been fighting on a dual front: reproductive justice and voter rights. Building up abortion funds for vulnerable women in case the law goes into effect would also be a good use of resources.
If you can get out of Georgia, get out. I kind of wish I could myself, even though I love the food and people and so many things about it. But just realize a lot of the most vulnerable people affected by the bill, especially African-American women in rural locations, aren’t very mobile due to systemic poverty. Don’t be an elitist piece of shit, thanks (not directed to any of the posters above, I’ve just seen a lot of dehumanizing and elitist reactions by non-Southerners in the last few days.)

Imagine this period of struggle paying off. Imagine being granted way more than you originally bargained for. Stay the course my love. It’s coming. You’re almost there.
I’m at the point in my life where I need you to be straight up honest and back up every word you say with actions. If you miss me, tell me. If you wanna see me, show up or ask me to come over. If you’re upset with me or something in general, tell me. I’ve done the whole playing games, chasing hearts around that never belonged to me. I’m done doing it. If you want me, I’m here, where I’ve been. Say what you mean and mean what you say.
