Did I get it wrong?
As a reference, I’m a 26 yo female working as an English teacher for little kids, and I was having a conversation with my new boss (former coworker). She is a 40 yo unstable, narcissictic, condescending bully.
The other day, my boss mentioned that she had told her then boyfriend that he had to get a vasectomy. Just like that, she literally said “you have to”, not “I think it’d be a good idea”, or “hey, let’s have this conversation”. I was astonished, and withouht thinking, replied “why don’t you get a hysterectomy?”, thinking that if it was her idea not to have more children, and she was (apparently) being the only one making decisions, it should be her the one having the procedure. Her immediate response was “I didn’t think you were so sexist! A vasectomy is reversible and I don’t know why I should go through all the surgery and hormonal unbalance when his is such a simple procedure, is it because I’m a woman? Also, the decision to not have more kids is like the decision to have one, it’s mutual”. To be fair, I didn’t know vasectomies were reversible, and she does have a point, but my comment was based on how she presented the situation, which looked like she was imposing her choice on her boyfriend (and knowing her, I wouldn’t be surprised, she’s a B).
I know I ramble a lot but, I needed to get this off my chest and, if someone wants to let me know their thoughts, they’re more than welcome. Am I crazy? Is she? I mean, the relationship broke around 2-3 weeks after this, not saying it was the reason, but maybe the last drop?
