“We see skinny women everywhere. I always forced ‘flaws’ into any of the skinny women I painted, the bigger ladies are what they evolved into. Something far more interesting, of course different pieces have different intent behind them, but there’s a naivety to them. An unaffectedness that I aspire to in my own life. I draw them as beautiful because I think they are.” ~Kristy Milliken Source: Here
How do all these girls to feel comfortable with their body?I always feel like shit and I'm coming to admire the girls almost anorexic, although it is something that I want. How can I do to please me more?
It’s a very difficult thing to shift your mindset to be accepting of your body and others, especially considering that we are constantly bombarded with the idea that there is only one “ideal” body in advertising and the media. It’s completely understandable that you are struggling to feel comfortable with your body!
I’d be happy to share with you what I have found to be helpful, but please keep in mind that everyone’s journey towards body positivity will be different, so you may have to try a variety of things.
First of all, I try to relinquish the idea that my body’s purpose is to be attractive. Instead, I like to think about all of the wonderful activities in which my body allows me to partake. The purpose of my legs isn’t to look good in a pair of shorts; they exist so that I can run, dance, jump, etc. When they can do all these wonderful things, how important is it that they look good in a bikini? (That said, everyone’s legs DO look wonderful in bikinis).
Secondly, I try to expose myself to a variety of body types, rather than the highly limited “ideal” body shape seen in magazines, etc. By becoming comfortable with the diversity of human body shapes that exist, I’ve become much more comfortable with my own unique body.
Finally, I really try to consciously monitor my thoughts about my body. It’s perfectly normal to occasionally have negative thoughts about one’s body, but when I do, I try to consciously acknowledge the thought, and then dismiss it. I let the negative thought go, and refuse to allow it to influence my mood. Then, I come up with a positive thought to replace the negative one, and move on with the rest of my day.
These strategies have been very helpful to me, and I hope that you also find them helpful. If not, feel free to message me again and maybe we can brainstorm some other ideas!
Wishing you all the best,

Hey everyone!
I’ve decided to organize a body positive challenge for this February, with a small daily challenge for each day of the month. I would really love to see a lot of people participate, because I think that body positivity is such a great way to spread confidence and love! If you’re interested, read on…
Each day of the month, there is a small task to complete, listed in the image above. Some days require writing something, and others require doing something in real life, which you can then reflect about online if you so choose.
If you don’t feel comfortable doing one of the challenges, please don’t hesitate to skip it. There’s no obligation to do each task, but try to do as many as you can! I’ll be posting my response every morning, so if you are looking for inspiration you can check my blog!
Post your responses with the tag #bodposfeb, so that everyone can share their opinions and spread the body positivity!
Please help me out by reblogging this post so that this challenge can reach a broader audience! I’d really appreciate your help in spreading the word about this challenge, so that more people can experience body positivity and self-love!
I’m definitely up for this! I am still in the process of learning to love my body and these adoring tasks will be fun tools to help me through my journey <3 Thank You! @hourglassandclass
