I loved Anne Meara from her early days with her husband/comedy partner to her wonderfully touching turn as Steve’s Ma in Sex and the City. A gifted actress and comedian, may she rest in laughter.

Signs Being Ladylike Isn't Your Forte
The 72nd Golden Globe Awards have been set for Jan. 11, 2015, the Hollywood Foreign Press Assn. and Dick Clark Productions announced Wednesday. Hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, who emceed the past two shows with aplomb, will reprise their duties.
A pair of Harvard juniors, Alexis Wilkinson and Eleanor Parker, will occupy the top two slots on the Harvard Lampoon masthead, beginning Feb. 1. Wilkinson becomes the first African-American female to run the college humor magazine, whose alumni ranks include Conan O’Brien, Andy Borowitz, and B.J. Novak. Parker will serve as second in command and head writer, the first time two women have been elected president and vice-president. The cultural underpinnings of their achievement, coupled with the Lampoon’s history of populating Hollywood’s literary-comedy establishment, marks their election as a big deal. Plus, they’re both very funny young women. “It was mostly a lot of physical threats,” deadpans Wilkinson. “And then, sexual favors. Between all of those, it was a landslide for Parker and me.”

When I took my stand-up class, the teacher asked us all why we were doing it. My answer was, “Every once in awhile I like to do something that scares the bejeezus out of me.”
Funnywomen extraordinaire Tina Fey and Amy Poehler bring the laughs to the Golden Globes again tonight.
Can’t. Wait.
