Legosi and Haru: A VERY different love story
And Iām not talking about the fact that they are a meat eater and a prey animal. OR that one of them is much taller/shorter than the other one.
ā¦ Though that doesnāt make their relationship any more normalā¦
No, Iām talking about how they take it slow since they both need that. And that there is no shame in that.
Legosi and Haru are both socially awkward in their own way. But they have one thing in common; Lack of self respect.
Legosi is a fricking tall wolf. Being a wolf is bad enough as it is, but he looks like a towering monster. He used to slouch to appear shorter, he constantly cut his claws and he practically never smiled in order to hide his fangs. The fact that he had gotten used to bigotry from a young age because of his lizard grandpa did not help. Being so aware about his big-ness means that he was not the most social animal, meaning he had never considered falling in love.
Haru is somewhat the opposite. She is small, even compared to other dwarf rabbits. Being small not only meant that she had to fear bigger animals constantly, but she has been treated like a ābabyā by bigger animals and has felt belittled most of her life. So she decided to be a very sexually active young lady(she lost her virginity at the age of 13, JESUS!). That gave her a bad reputation among her peers, but it was still a status she were more comfortable with than being thought of as theĀ āsmall one.ā Haru expected to die unhappy since she thought of small animals as meaningless.
But their traumas helped each other when they met for the first time.
ā¦ Alright, FINE, the SECOND first time.
Haruās lack of fear since she had gotten used to living in constant danger meant she treated Legosi like another animal, not a big monster. And Legosi who felt constant guilt and shame for being big never thought a bad thing about another animal, so he treated Haru with respect andĀ he did not belittle her for her size. They could actually be in each others company and have a somewhat pleasant conversation as Legosi assisted Haru with her plants.
And thenā¦ that happened.
Haru expected the big wolf to want sex from her since that was normally the reason to why some males acted not-horrible toward her. But Legosi rejecting her advances made these two animals realize something.
Haru realized that someone could actually be polite to her, even downright nice, and she did not have to do anything in return so to say.
Legosi realized someone actually saw him as a male creature, someone you could want to sleep with. To not think of him as a monster.
So there is a spark of affection. The two of them makes them feel better about themselves.
But Haru already has aā¦ ahā¦ umā¦ she has aā¦ sex buddy, I guess?
I said it before and I will say it again; Haru and Louis relationship was NOT healthy for either of them. Their relationship was constantly on Louisā conditions and Haru kept thinking that he was too good for her. It was clear that Haru wanted more than friendship with benefits, but none of them tried to make it into something more.
But Haru moves on from this one-sided romance. As she is about to be eaten, she recalls her entire life and drowns in self pity as she is about to die a meaningless death. But she still ends up putting up a fight of a sort since she recalls Legosi and his kindness. That he has NEVER belittled her or thought less of her. That gives her confidence enough to actually mock a lion.
So, is that it? Are the two animals a couple now?
They are both inexperienced in actual relationships. Haru is a year older, meaning she is more mature, so she actually handles their lack of experience well and points out that they need some time before they are an actual couple. And SHE did not declare her love for Legosi when he did, which I think is fair.
So, Haru is the one of the two of them who is more mature And she has experienceā¦ of a sort. She is the kind of girlfriend Legosi needs since he is TERRIBLE at relationships.
Legosi is constantly plagued by doubt and he is awkward as fuck. Thinking less of himself means that he treats Haru as something holy and valuable, and that backfires more than once. And his lack of knowledge about what couples do makes him do something as stupid as proposing to Haru(LOL).
Haru getās that Legosi is inexperienced and immature when it comes to romance. And she is actually very patient, she doesnāt want him to hurry, she gives him time. But she also makes it clear that it annoys her, which is a good thing since honesty is VERY important. Her attempts at making him jealous by telling him that she is meeting with another male(which is a lie) and her threatening to get a boyfriend in university(TOTAL lie) is both a way to make it clear that Legosi should not even THINK about boss her around, but it is also her way of trying to provoke him into taking initiative for once.
Love at first sight doesnāt exist. Love takes time and love takes work. Sometimes, it takes A LOT of work. And that is okay. It is a downright bad thing if it goes too quickly.
Haru and Legosi has a slow and steady long distance relationship.
