i wanted to make little clothes but i had nothing to male little clothes for. so i made this hyena sorry for no furby stuff for a while, ill finish my last project at some point... in the meantime i do stuff like this though!
My best friend has recently fallen down this huge furby hole and she loves your work, is there any chance you do commissions?
I dont, sorry! but im happy to give advice if she wants to make her own
for the furby customizing anon, if you wanna make accessories and stuff too id start at Dollar Tree. Theres stickers, ribbon, faux flowers, glitter, party favors, beads and snacks for while u brainstorm and since everything is a dollar u can play around with ideas a whole lot more
^ a really good idea if youre more into accessorizing than modding the actual furby!
Hey! Iâve been looking into making a custom furby for a long time and yours are beautiful! Do you have any tips on how to fully customize one? Like the fur and eyes, stuff of that sort.
heres a good eye tutorial:Â https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A439QILluwY
and a fur pattern:Â https://www.deviantart.com/cavity-sam/art/1998-Furby-Fur-Pattern-With-Mane-699776394
and how to take the fur off:Â https://www.deviantart.com/cavity-sam/art/1998-Furby-Fur-Pattern-With-Mane-699776394
then you just take everything off and replace it with your custom stuff. for faceplates i sculpt with sculpey (an oven hardening clay) directly onto the plastic, boil it to make it hard enough to remove (dont leave it in too long) and then bake it in the oven for the full curing, about 20 minutes or so. you could use an air-dry or epoxy clay if youâre having trouble with that method tho
if you have more specific questions feel free to ask, otherwise i hope the tutorials give you the gist of it!
Hi, I absolutely love your customs and I was wondering if you use any special tools when you sculpt to get those nice textures? Also what tools would you recommend to someone who wants to sculpt faceplates/limbs/etc? Thank you so very much!!!!
everything i do can be done with some kind of needle tool (eg. toothpick), your fingers, and an exacto knife. the only other tools id recommend are some kind of flat rubber tool for smoothing and something round for making eye sockets/nostrils, etc but those are not in any way necessary, they just make things a bit easier.
i really dont use anything special!Â
-sculpey for the clay parts- use firm or super sculpey, original sculpey is a little hard to work with
-hot glue to attach everything (but make sure its a high temp not a low temp gun or it wont be nearly as durable)
-the 2$ acrylic paint you get at craft stores, some matte spray for finishing, nail polish for gloss (nail polish isnât a very stable product though, and is prone to cracking or yellowing as it ages. but since these are just for fun i dont mind using it).Â
-you can cut up an old stuffed toy for fur if you cant buy them by the yard like i do.Â
thats basically it! the other thing you might need to learn is a ladder stitch, which you can just look up anywhere
hi im just curious what your brush settings are for your art because it stuns me each time<33 all your work is amazing

fuzzystatic is a sai default and texture 3 is just triangles, but im not sure where i found that one bc it was a few years ago
Him happy!!
I want a cyclops furby
I have no clue how I would make it but I want one.
doo.......
hi! I had a question since you sculpt so many amazing things - would it be possible to sculpt a new beak for a 2005 furby and with what kind of material would you do that? I'm thinking Sculpey might be too firm and hard to work with so maybe moldable plastic or something?
ive been thinking about this myself since modding a 05 is on my wishlist! there are several things ive been considering, but keep in mind a lot of these materials ive barely worked with so im not an expert by any means. i also dont own a 05 so im not exactly sure what the beak feels like. the most likely options i have rn are:1. sculpey does make their own brand of "rubber" clay, not sure how thin or flexible it is, but its an option https://www.sculpey.com/14-bake-and-bend-clay2. silicone/foam rubber. both castable, but i think theyre both mostly sold in larger amounts, and silicone in particular is expensive, but this is definitively something that would work. ive read on some methods involving cheaper silicone caulking (look up "oogoo") but again, not exactly sure how flexible it is and how it would work with the movement.3. latex rubber, namely those little tubs in craft stores used for small molds. would just be time consuming to build up all the layers + might have to use oil paints or something to color it. would need some experimenting. maybe cut up a halloween mask?then i have some more "what if" ideas like carving those puzzle foam mats or various fabric ideas (suede maybe? waxed canvas? ) but those are mostly just curiosity rather than things that i think will really work. anyway i hope this gave you some ideas!
hand ears.... a concept to revisit later
another bit of progress.....
Um hi! i just ordered my first furb today (pink tum and gray with spots, she in the mail ^-^) and i guess im just looking for tips about getting into the community? I just have one furb, plus my gal on the way. do you have any tumblrs you really like? tips about buying or customizing? irl places to look for furbs? your work is amazing! thank you!
hi! jumping into the community is pretty easy, just post about your furbs in the furby tag and im sure you find some friends in no time, or there might be some discords floating around too if youre more into group chatsfor buying furbies, ebay is a big one, but local thrift stores and yard sales are also good places to check out. i only get furbies for modding purposes so i dont know anything about color/rarity and the likethere are a LOT of ways to customize, i think the most common are eye chips and painting the face plate/beaks. there are tutorials floating around if youre interested, although i cant link them off the top of my head.i guess whats most important is just have fun with your furbies! give them a name and let them be your friend :)
tomorrow: face
i know you didnât ask for this. nobody asked for this. yet here we are. grookey furby.
