Hi, Jaelene. We don’t know each other, but I was hoping to get the chance to ask you some questions last night. I was disappointed when you walked by as I and the other reporters tried to flag you...
This is an outstanding response to Jaelene Hinkle.
CYB the Portland Thorns invented friendships and happiness?
Angry Sinc
Sophia Bush + the gals
I feel like the Thorns tonight are channeling me and my feelings toward homework. Like, a whole lot of meh, followed by flurries of ohshitohshitohshit.
Wow. The Thorns are playing absolute shit.

This is so rad
This. This right here.
Anyone else making a point to watch every single game this year? I even watched the replay of the Portland game, despite seeing it in person.
I want this television deal to be profitable for everyone.
I want the NWSL to grow, and attract more sponsors, and be unquestionably, demonstrably successful.
you are lucky the Washington Spirit is persistent with not wanting to give up on Mal Pugh. If they don't let her go she's going to France she doesn't want to play for Washington
I mean, I'm down to have her if we could do a trade that makes sense. I'm just not at all interested in seeing the Thorns make the sort of choice Orlando did with the Alex Morgan trade. I understood Orlando's logic. They wanted a face and a name to launch their organization, so it was worth it for them. But the Thorns don't need that, so it'd be a terrible choice from our end to start giving up a bunch of great pieces for a single player.
Listen, I'm just gonna say it, I'll be real pissed if the Thorns fuck up a perfectly good team to try to get Mal Pugh.
Don't get me wrong. If last year had worked out, I'd have been delighted. I was as excited as the next person about the idea of snagging her.
But, now, what would we be giving up? The rumor said two federation players. So, Heath, Long, Kling, Horan, Sonnet, and maybe Sinc. Those are the potential options.
It's not going to be Heath or Sinc. If it's Long, that's a shitty fucking way to repay her for all her loyalty. She wants to finish her career in Portland, and I for one would really like to see that.
So that leaves Kling, Horan, and Sonnet. Two of the three, heading out, for Mal Pugh coming in. I think that'd fuck up the balance of our team.
Plus, they just did a bunch of team-building stuff, so fucking over the team to get your hands on a single individual player could be a real locker-room killer.
And at the end of the day, the player we'd get would really be an untested kid. I mean, over the last year, she's made her debut with the USWNT, talked about going straight pro (leading Portland to trade away stuff to get to the top of a then meaningless, previously non-existent allocation order), decided to commit to UCLA, delayed actually playing for UCLA for other soccer commitments, and decided to leave UCLA without ever playing a game to go pro after all. I don't blame her for any of that. She's 18. Being 18 is all about figuring out where you want to go and what you want to be doing. She should 100% get to do that.
But as far as my team goes, I'd rather they focus on being a great team. I know it'd be good for the NWSL to have her in the league, but, for my team I think it's better to let her go play in Europe for a while.
