on the subject of female characters and oc’s in particular
for a community that does everything in their power to be 120% pc, preaches acceptance and equality and urges everybod to tw-tag their pomegranates;; y’all pretty damn fucking shady when it comes to how you treat female characters in RP, especially original characters. “Noooo”,I hear you say, “Haven’t u seen the thing i reblogged about how much i appreciate female ocs?” Lemme break shit down; ……………………… I’ve seen people - myself included - questioning their skills. Maybe I’m not a good writer? Maybe my portrayal is crap? Maybe my character is just too boring and not very well rounded? Maybe she doesn’t fit into the fandom? BULLSHIT. I constantly see people reblogging one of the SUPPORT FEMALE MUSES/OCS posts, but how many of these people do I ACTUALLY see writing with said muses in question, or female muses that aren’t run by their long time ooc bffs? Few. Very, very few. The people who usually are willing to give a female OC a chance are OTHER FEMALE OCs. I annot even recount the number of times I have dropped asks in male blogs, only to get either ignored completely or, upon messaging them about plotting, get told a variation of ‘sorry my muse is gay’ or ‘sorry, my muse is in a relationship already’ Let me translate that for you; “Sorry, my muse has no need your your muse for she is female and therefore only good for and interested in one thing; romancing and sleeping with my muse.” … and let me translate that for you: - you cannot be friends with a woman, their friendship is invalid - women don’t have personalities - women are not of enough value to exist on their own without being merely an accessory to men - the only thing women want is sex and romance. They have no other interests and serve no other purpose. — there are so many things implied in all of this, I couldn’t even list them all if I tried to. But funny enough - I don’t have to. Because I am sure y’all getting my point. What makes this whole fuckery even more shitty is the fact - and correct me if I am wrong, as this isn’t an official statistic but merely my 16 years of experience in the online RPC - that the majority of the writers on here are, identify, or used to identify as female. So please, for the love of God - why on eath do you hate other women so much? Why do you have so little respect for your fellow ladies? And how on earth do you, ever, expect men to take us seriously as we demand equality and respect, when y’all cannot even fucking respect your fellow females?! FUN FACT ; The way I see it - the way you treat fictional female characters on here - and I’m talking ooc, not ic - reflect, imho, the way you view other women outside of tumblr.
