Depends on how you’re doing it, sweetheart. Do you just grab any old knife off the street? Do you keep them clean and tidy and serviceable? Are they displayed? Do they have purpose?
It’s all in how you spin it.
...I don’t have street knives, those usually have blood on them. Eugh, how horrid. I have nice, practical ones for nice, practical purposes. I suppose I don’t have a proper display cabinet but I have a nice box for them with nice sheathes?
[...Some of Ned’s knives absolutely were just kind of found in alleyways and they’re coming to the realization that maybe those were murder knives.]
@aglitchinemotion
[tl;dr
ned thinks other synths should be avoided out of safety concerns but also because it’s like talking to The Youth]
[tl;dr
ghouls are better than humans but synths are better than ghouls and humans. also, we should all just totally kill the institute]

No such thing.
Oh, that’s excellent then. I was starting to get the impression that knife collections were, well, weird.
How many knives is too many knives? Hrm.
nonukesthanks replied to your post “how do you feel about prewar media”
// YOU LEAVE THAT GHOUL ALONE NED HE IS A SWEETHEART
// I’M SORRY TO SAY THAT OUR NEDWARD CASTILLO IS A CERTIFIED NO-FUN-HAVING GRUMPUS
Why are we running around just eating packaged food we find on the ground? Why are we eating noodles older than some people’s grandparents? I don’t think this is a very wise thing to do, my dears.
How do you feel about nuka cola?
It’s supposed to be fizzy but it isn’t. It’s flat, it’s old, and I don’t care what people think of it, I’m not going to drink something that’s older than all my components. Is that safe? I mean, really, we must be honest here, a lot of pre-war food wasn’t safe back then, let alone now. And that glowing stuff? That isn’t food! Food doesn’t glow. I make little necklaces out of the glowing stuff but I don’t drink it.
The boss sometimes makes things with it. The rich people like that, which I suppose is really all that matters.
How do you feel about seafood?
Sea animals are stupid. Dolphins can’t make up their mind if they can’t to be flippy little mammal tubes or really big fish. There are animals in there that don’t understand on principle how many arms they’re supposed to have. If the ocean can’t get itself together soon, I’m certainly not going to eat out of it.
how do you feel about prewar media
Some of it is very nice and some of it, perhaps most of it, is garbage, but then, most of anything is garbage, isn’t it? I like books. I think that I’d like to start a book club of some sorts here in Goodneighbor but I do think that most people here can’t read or else they can’t read very well, so that presents some logistical challenges.
I like romance. Romance novels, mostly, because there’s more pining than in movies. I like movies but I don’t see them very often because, you know, caps. I guess I’d rather save them up for a book that I can read again and again than spend them to see a movie if there’s one playing and if I can get to it. It’s not that things change, they’re just nice to hold. And anyway, most romance movies were dreadful. Not enough pining. I like pining. And I like to see what happens after everyone gets together, to see everyone have happy lives or horrid ones, but books and movies alike don’t get into that very much.
I don’t care for horror. It’s generally a little stupid and anyway, we have deathclaws now, so it really takes the edge off of the little monster flicks they sometimes show. The world is frightening enough. And the pre-war people liked zombie movies and...well, that’s just an unfortunate genre now!
I don’t really like the music that plays out of the Diamond City radio station. It’s repetitive and besides that, it’s all so gloomy. I like quite a bit of pre-war music but I think that there’s a lot of worth to be had in the many genres that have developed since then.
That ghoul who lives in the Memory Den (Kenny?) plays an old radio show. It’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard in my entire life.
Ask my character "How do you feel about ______?" Can be an idea, person(s), place, or thing, and they'll have to answer honestly.

I wish I was a commonplace robot so I didn’t have skin and didn’t sweat. Why does summer exist? This is ridiculous. I demand someone cancel this season at once.
basil, lady's mantle
basil— have you ever fallen out of love?
Oh no, never. I’ve been in loveless relationships, you know how it goes, but it’s not as if I fell out of love so much as it was that affection was never in my heart in the first place. Of the people I’ve loved, I still love them dearly, even if they’re gone from me now, whether from death or other circumstances, and now I’m alone. It’s not as if my husband did it on purpose.
lady’s mantle— do you have a favorite comfort item?
I have a box of knives, you see, and I find that a terribly comforting notion, terribly comforting.
itxaintxthexmoney:
[The idea of using a jacket for any other than its intended purpose has clearly never occurred to him, and they have just presented him with an entire new way of looking at the world! The visible emoting: eyebrows become visible above his sunglasses.]
Oh my gosh, that’s such a good idea!
[Neddie strips off their jacket (for the record, it’s far more functional than fashionable; our Ned likes pretty things quite a bit but our Ned also spends most of their caps at the Memory Den) and offers it to their fellow synth.]
The happiness and wellbeing of our feline companions is of tantamount importance.
