greetings, i am hiro and i try to make myself more accountable for learning guitar. currently playing 'it's raining somewhere else' daily until i manage to do it

Hello everyone.

I am hiro and I'm trying to teach myself to play guitar. I've decided to create this blog to track my progress to remain motivated.

in order to do that, I'll upload a recording of a chosen song i want to learn daily.

if you have some tips or similar those are appreciated but please be aware that i'm a beginner.

Current project:

Some rules i set for myself:

I will only practise something as long as it sparks joy

if I make a mistake in a recording that's that it's in there no taky backsies or rerecordings

I'll do it daily

Equipment:

Guitar: Harley Benton ST-20HSS SBK

Amplifier: Harley Benton HB-10G

Recording device: Motorola Edge 30 aka my phone

would i recommend any of this? idk man i don't know enough about it all to make a recommendation in the first place

hmmmm i honestly don't feel like continuing "It's raining somewhere else" atm. I WILL return to it at a later date but variety is the spice of life and right now i'm just playing what i feel like to motivate myself to keep going.

This isn't the last of "It's raining somewhere else" though

will upload a different thing today that i've previously practised though to not keep today empty. We've all seen how long it takes for me to pick a streak back up again.

spiderwalk day 2! 5 more to go

hopefully it's more audible than yesterday. this time i placed my phone on the speaker. it was a little easier today than yesterday but still my hand cramped before i could even get halfway through the fretboard

day 16 of it's raining somewhere else

was feeling a little lazy so only the beginning part. idk might change it up and switch to an easier song because hot damn remembering and playing multiple strings at once is hard

and here comes our streak broken exercise: spiderwalk day 1!

6 more to go and who knows maybe by the end of this i'll have developed a love for it and will continue. as for now i didn't complete the entire neck because my hand started cramping so one step at a time

for now 7 days of spiderwalk for accountability

the recordings today got a little quiet so i'll see that i place my phone better tomorrow.

we're back at it again with day 8+7 days skipped so this is day 15 now i guess??

ah rip broke the chain for a week. i blame stress but alas i'm really bad at picking a streak back up again once it breaks

hmmmm though what can i do as a befitting activity to make up for those 7 days of non practising?

i think the spider walk would be appropriate. an exercise i hate but desperately need because my hands are rather stiff and i struggle to grab cords due to that and overall just having small hands so it's even more important that i tickle out every bit of flexibility i can

this time with my first attempt at finger style as well as actuall torrental rain happening outside. though i apologise if it's a little quiet. also playing two notes at a time like this kinda messed with my brain BUT we're trying and that's all that matters

ok i might have been dumb and didn't realise that the tabs for "it's raining somewhere else" require finger style picking and i've used a pick the entire time.

sooooooooooo learning fingerstyle it is

but also... i have an electric guitar so idk how far i'll actually get with that since hitting the instrument will just be like knocking on the (mostly) hard plastic the body is

day 7 of it's raining somewhere else

aka the day i make every mistake in the recording when playing without it was.. ok

could do the notes by memory in the try before and then forgot them during the recording. ah well

i guess i'll just get forced to learn some music theory because i could only find piano notes for a song i want to learn one day.

will be fun, i can read sheet music already (learned it in school) but i'm very slow. used to know accords and stuff too but it's been 3 years and i'm rusty as heck.

might make that into tabs for ease of reading or torture myself by not doing that and instead learning the notes on the fretboard the painful way
